As an out of state student interviewing at a medical school, how would you suggest one should go about researching the location to create an answer for "Why do you want to study medicine in (city/state/location)?" Thank you.

Look for specific med school-related factors that appeal to you (curriculum type, research opportunities, technology applications you like, etc), look at their mission statement and connect the dots about how it fits you. These responses should dominate the essay. Then you can briefly touch on: ties to/familiarity with area, local support system, SO-related factors, or anything that might someday cause you to settle in that area. Last, you could bring up recreational possibilities that might relate to you.

Do not tell Vermont you plan to hit the ski slopes every weekend and thus your interest. Or UCSD you have to surf every day off from class. It will not happen.

Should be easy if it is a conventionally desirable location (Philly, DC, Miami ect).

If rural just say anything about the people or not being overloaded by stimuli like citites

For everything in between look it up online
