Ok..this may sound stupid, but I have my first interview in a few days and I just wanted to find out what most people wear to the resident meet-and-greet the night before?...I dont want to look like a schmuck. 🙂

they will usually tell you if it is business casual, or casual. either way i wear the same, khakis and a dress shirt, no tie. not too stuffy, not too casual.

when in doubt, as the program coordinator and they will hook you up.

Same here: slacks & button down. Will prob wear a sweater if the weather gets cooler.

For my UNM interview the invite said casual. I wore jeans and a nice tank-top. My boyfriend wore jeans and a sweater. All of the residents were dressed the same, if not more casual. A few of the other students were wearing business casual, which worked too. I would wear something you're comfortable in and look presentable.

Did you ask if you could bring your boyfriend, or did they invite you to bring him?

For UNM, I had to call and confirm my interview on the Tuesday before the interview. When I called, the coordinator asked if I would be attending the social and if I was bringing a guest. I told her at that time that I would like to bring my boyfriend. A few of the other students and residents had their partners with them as well.

The interns I talk to say its pretty standard for applicants to bring their partners. I'm planning on contacting the residency coordinator for those programs that I plan on bringing my boyfriend to.
