I know this is a petty question with all you guys about to know where you match/will live for the next 3-4 years, but i just need to get an idea.
I only go shopping like once a year, and i know i need interview clothes (as med school has added a bit of weight). What are people wearing...females, not males...
i never wear skirts/dresses, and don;t think i will for residency interviews either, but are females dressing just as conservative as we did for med school interviews? the typical gray/black pant suit and whatnot? i don't want to stick put, just blend in and not come off as weird.
thanks

Most women go for conservative business wear. A few go for brighter colors, but always conservative. I don't think it matters much.

i ran into a few individuals who went outside the box but in general everyone was in navy or black suits..i went with a black banana republic pants suit with a light blue sweater underneath (similar to the link below)...i felt pretty much like i looked like everyone else 🙂 it was easy since they offer three different fits of pant in a ton of sizes and also do free alterations...one stop shopping!!!

Everyone I saw on the interview trail (including myself) wore conservative suits. A few wore skirts, a lot wore pants. I personally only bought pant suits because I despise skirt suits. There was a variety of what people wore under the suit - wool turtlenecks, button-down shirts, shells. Also, go for comfortable shoes -- most of the interview days had a good amount of walking. As for what to carry, many brought portfolios or black handbags large enough to fit a folder.

Hope this helps, you want to look nice and not make a statement with your clothing. 🙂 Of course, I have yet to match so we'll see if this is valid. 🙂

BTW, you might try outlets if you live by any. I found some suits after the fact when I was Christmas shopping.
Good Luck!!! :luck:
