Okay, this might be a little premature, but assuming I get one or two interviews out of my 70 apps, when would be the best time to schedule them? I have heard to put the ones you aren't quite as interested in early b/c it will give you some practice and the later an interview, the more of an impression you will leave on a program and the more experience you will have with the questions. I also heard that some of the Gas programs are done with their interviews by the beginning of January, so is middle of December the time to schedule your "most desired" programs? Anyone have any thought/ideas on how to approach the interview season? This probably won't even be an issue when I just get my one courtesy interview from my home program, but maybe the rest of you guys can benefit from this post👍

70 programs? glad to hear I am not the only one going overboard. but only two interviews? I am hoping to get 15? are you a do or img? i think you will get more than two. where are you applying?
i am planning to schedule a couple places first that i care less about for practice and then hopefully hit the programs i really want and then finish up with the rest...i have heard that you start to get burned out with interviews after the first few... i can't believe that will happen to me but that's what everyone says. i am hoping to do 15 interviews but hopefully will get at least 10...
has anyone ever had a preceptor fail them for missing too much of a rotation going on interviews?

Yeah,
I think I kind of lost it during the application process. I figure I would rather turn down interview spots than not have enough. I was kidding about only two interviews. I just feel pretty mediocre amongst some of these other people on SDN, and med school seems to have trained me to prepare for the worst, and I truly have no limiting factors as to where I do residency, so I thought I would just play my cards everywhere b/c I don't care as long as I match in gas. I mean I did rule out a lot on scutwork/old interview threads, but I feel like I just want to look at a lot of these programs myself. I'm an MD applicant, didn't do real great on boards and bottom 1/3 of class. It's just hard to know where I lie with the rest of these applicants and I have no idea how many programs will actually take a look at me. Thanks for replying to my thread I thought it was going to die there for a minute 🙂. I think it depends on the rotation you are on. I took December off, and January I am in the MICU. I heard at my program, they let you take some days off during the MICU to interview. Other rotations, I heard will not give you as much leniency. I would email or talk to whomever will be in charge of your Dec/Jan rotations. I had the same kind of plan for interviews. I just didn't know if some of the true ringers out there had some extra insight into scheduling interviews.
