For those of you who identified as being more than one race or ethnicity, can you share some difficult/interesting interview questions you got about your identity? For me discussing my multiracial identity is somewhat a touchy subject because I don't identify fully as one thing and do not really identify with one of my ethnicities more than the other. Did any interviewers critcize you about not relating fully to one race/ethnicity?

If they didn't ask anything about your identity or race/ethnicity, please state.

One of my Asian friends had the interviewer call him an "Oriental."

That would be awkward. I hate it when people make assumptions or stereotype based on a person's looks.

They aren't going to ask you about your race. They are going to ask you why this school, why medicine, tell me about yourself.

Okay good to hear. I thought I've heard on sdn of adcoms grilling people for not looking like a certain race or not relating fully to a culture but putting it down. I look ambiguous so I'd be offended if any adcom assumed that I'm not a certain race just bc of the way I look (ambiguous / mixed). Also I don't relate fully to any of my cultures.

we live in a melting pot, there are increasing numbers of people in North America who identify themselves as "other" when referring to ethnic origin . A diverse background enriches you as a person. I really love eating burritos with curry sauce,LOL🙂

haahaahaa. Love it.

Unfortunately many people are culturally insensitive to the unique struggles multiracial people face. I've had my fair share of awkward/ignorant comments about my race/culture.

I eat almost everything lol.
