Hello all! I have my first Interview next week and I was trying to be as prepared as possible! What are some questions that yo have encountered besides the normal, why are you applying here or why do you want to be a PT? Thanks in advanced!

Sometimes they will ask you stuff right off ur application like ur observation experiences or like any volunteer work you have done. Some questions I encountered more than once on my 4 interviews were "explain a time you experiences difficulty or diversity and how you overcame it" "what are some characteristics that you have that will aid you to success in the PT field" "do you see any issues in the PT field that you think need improvement" hope this helps!!

I was asked to describe a time I was prejudiced against and how I delt with it, a time I was critized, an issue in the health field today and how I would change it, a book that I have currently read or am reading, who I look up to and why, what field of PT I would want to practice in... those are some of the ones that I can remember. I would also research the professors and the program so you're able to talk about why you chose to apply to that specific program. Good luck at your interview!

Pretty much the same than what the previous posters have said. Make sure you know what direct access is, any hot topics in the profession right now, your strengths and weaknesses, the hardest class you've taken, you might also have some scenario questions (more rare)

Behavioral questions were more common than I expected. (Tell me about a time you failed and what you learned from it, tell me about a challenge you faced, tell me about a time you were treated unfairly and how you responded, tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult person and what you did, etc) Definitely prep for those!

These were some of the ones I was asked that were a little bit different

• explain one leadership experience
• negative experience you had volunteering
• what makes you unique
• whats the difference between undergrad and graduate school

In my experience, I wasn't asked anything about why I wanted to be a PT, current issues, or why that school. Both of mine were super laid back and conversational. For one, they asked about my volunteer experiences and then went off things I said in that, the other was a conversation back and forth where they would ask about specifics on my application and then I could ask them a question in return. Overall I was very nervous going in but both of mine ended up making me feel super relaxed like i was just having a talk with a friend or professor. Just answer honestly and you will be fine! I definitely did not have the top grades or GRE scores and ended up getting accepted. I really think it was just because of the interviews.

I was asked to describe a time when miscommunication occurred and how I dealt with it, describe a problem I faced, what was my solution, and what was the outcome, if I could have a detailed conversation with anyone who would it be and why, how teamwork applies within the Physical therapy career field, what I would do if I found out a PT disapproved of something I did during my clinical internship. 1. 3 adjectives that describe you and explain why/how for each
2. What was your hardest prerequisite and how did you overcome it
3. What's the most important trait of a PT
Mine was super laid back and relaxed...research the faculty and ask questions they absolutely love that stuff...try to find a way to relate to each one, for example the Dr who interviewed me did ICU mobilizations which was lucky for me because I love inpatient and wanted to do that as well she ended up telling me to look up ECMO and then email her about it
