I am hoping to hear some of your thoughts on the types of clinical questions that get asked at interviews, either what you've heard by word of mouth or as they come up on our own interviews. I hear that side effects of steroids, ie cataracts and glaucoma, is a common one. Any and all input would be appreciated.

I don't know what they will hit you with this year, but generally speaking there are not too many pimp/clinical questions asked on interview days. Don't get me wrong, you will get some but generally speaking it is more important how you answer the question, than whether you are right or wrong. Good luck

When I interviewed I didn't get any questions of this kind.

They know that almost everyone will have very little ophthalmic knowledge. What's more important is how you react to the question. Some people absolutely panic in this situation. If you don't know the answer, say you don't know, and move on. Don't try to BS your way through it, or you'll get nailed to the wall.

One interviewer asked me what the most common cause of blindness worldwide was. It was the only question that I was ever asked that required ophthalmic knowledge. I think I may have even answered it wrong! By and far the most common questions you will get are: "Do you have any questions for me? or "What can I tell you about this program?"

Good luck to all this season!
