There are a number of programs on the Interviews Offered thread that I have not yet heard from. And I applied early. So, does that mean that most likely a rejection from those programs is inevitable come November?

Not at all.

Many programs will continue to extend interviews throughout the season. Once you get an interview, you're on an even playing field with most applicants no matter when you received the invitation. I was in your shoes last year and I know this is a tough and stressful time, but just be patient and go to the places you really want to visit no matter when they offer you an interview.

If the interview season progresses and you've still not heard anything from a particular program that you really think you might like, there's nothing wrong with calling or emailing to personally express interest and check your status. One program lost my application and when I called to see what was going on, they found my application and offered me an interview the next day. It is a little early for that, but keep this in mind.

Good luck! 👍

Just also an FYI: I'd say at least 30-50% of the programs which I never interviewed at did not even let me know about a rejection....

So chances are, you will not hear a word from many programs.

And the above is correct, its still too early to be worrying. I would say the next 4-5 weeks will be the 'heaviest' as far as invites go.

1. most programs start really taking a look at applications after acep

2. if you haven't heard from them a week after acep, email the program coordinator. sometimes i would get invites after i inquired. maybe this made them look at my application sooner. maybe they thought i was more serious about them in one case, they had "overlooked" my application by mistake, and i got an instant interview offer. so don't be afraid to email before all the interview dates get filled!

Keep in mind that some places will not offer interviews prior to the dean's letter on Nov 1. So I'd say starting to call programs on your list right now is a bit premature. Use SDN as a guide...if others are getting slots at places you've applied and haven't heard anything...then you can start inquiring.

Some programs (e.g., Yale) will begin offering interviews soon. Programs are encouraged to wait until MSPE's are released before offering interviews.

A friend of mine till has no interviews, but he also no rejections either?? Good or bad??

yeah...a lot of my friends and i still havent heard from 5-6 places...not sure what to do..is it too early to email/call programs?

:laugh:Give it time. If you haven't heard anything by mid-January, you likely will not get anything from them. But, I am still waiting to hear from Indiana, and the match was 4 years ago from me.....still keeping my fingers crossed.....
