Interview Reschedule Possibilties

I am considering working as an biological observer this summer, leaving just after I submit my application. The problem of course is that I won't be able to attend interviews until October. Has anyone had a bad experience trying to reschedule an interview for a later date? I am not really sure how schools respond to something like "I cant come in for an interview because I am at sea, how about next month?"

I know there is a bit of a risk being out of touch, but I need to make money to pay for my application/education/etc.
