Hey Everyone!

I figured it'd be nice to have a thread about all the thoughts of everyone's interviews, what they thought of the program, more info about each program. That way, we can all share information and perhaps better select where we go for interviews! So far, I've got 2 interviews for next months (UNSOM and St. Joseph @ Phoenix, AZ) and I'll update on how those go!

Branch County Community Health Center; Coldwater, MI: Osteo Match only, Interview 8/19
- Very small town, friendly, reasonable housing nearby. Quaint downtown main street area, lots of recreation nearby. Group interview - program director two other clinical faculty and about 4-5 residents - felt kind of intimidating. New family medicine center close to hospital. One to one resident to faculty ratio so a ton of learning can take place, no real teaching of students or younger residents, decent call schedule.

Adventist Hinsdale hospital; Hinsdale, Il: dually accredited, interview 9/20
- easy to access off of expressway, easy to get to. unopposed program - intensive ICU and OB/gyn chances. residents generally seem happy and easy going. hospital has new wing which is really nice. family medicine center seems small - hallways seem crowded and narrow but maybe that was just me? series of one on one interviews - one with a resident, one with a clinical teaching faculty and one with the program director. day runs very smoothly everything kept on time. breakfast and lunch done together. only two applicants at a time interviewed. area surrounding hospital is very nice and suburban. done by lunch for interviews. interviews are conversational.

MacNeal Family Medicine Residency; Berywn, Il: dually accredited, interview 9/23
- hospital is right next to train station which gives easy access from downtown chicago. from the way i came it was kind of far off the expressway. area surrounding hospital is more urban, tons of food and other choices nearby. hospital lunch choices seem reasonable. day consists of meeting with on resident for welcome, interview with chief resident, interview with clinical faculty and interview with program director. unopposed for peds and ob/gyn. allow to do a sports med or womens health concentration. family medicine center seems nicely laid out - two preceptors in one room together. precepting room feels small. residents get offices - interns share two. suprivised call during intern year where a senior resident comes along with you for all calls answered so you never are alone as an intern. newer program director but he plans no changes for program significantly. interviews are one on one - not intimidating, more conversational. done interviewing by lunch which is at a local restaurant.

Carle Foundation Hospital; Urbana, Il: dually accredited, interview 9/24
- dinner the evening before with a resident which is a nice introduction to the program and what they have to offer, dinner choice will vary but where we went was very nice. if you are traveling you will stay at a holiday inn so bring your swimsuit 🙂 longer interview day - interviews before and after lunch. cafeteria seems reasonable for choices and price. allowed a food allowance per year of residency. allow rural rotations for certain rotations. unopposed ob and peds. do have IM and surgery residents. dedicated track for sports med with extensive opportunities. interviews with resident, program director, education coordinator, behavioral health specialist, osteopathic program director (may be a DO thing only) and director of medical education. will be asked to solve a clinical scenario. interviews conversational. hospital added a new wing which is really nice. hospital is very big, clinic is next door with easy access. everyone seemed happy and relaxed.

Wow, 4 interviews already? How'd you get an interview in August?

Congratulation for many interviews. Can I ask you your stat and MD/DO ?

I am a 4th year DO student so our application opened up 7/1. The program I interviewed at in August was osteopathic only so they start earlier

As I told someone who asked me the same thing, I would but I do not know how much good it would do for you since I only took the COMLEX and not the USMLE

If you wanted a more anonymous review, go under "Articles&Interview" section and then "Interview Feedback" and post under the program. 🙂

Except that if people match the reviews there with who is interviewing in the interview invite thread they can put two into together and figure out who is doing the review

I think I am misunderstanding how PDs can pinpoint who is who, the only identifiable information would be the interview date (which can be mislabeled intentionally for protection)?

I am the only one right now who interviewed at Waukesha so if I go leave a review it May be anonymous
However, if they come to this form and look at the interview invite thread they will see that I received an interview there. It does not take rocket science to figure out who might have left the review anonymously if one does that.
My point is if they really want to figure out who is doing the review they can easily figure that information out.

I matched in GS, though interview was tough. I looked online and found a place that does interview prep called Residents Medical Group. They had a current program director of GS interview prep me. It really helped. I matched in GS and my interview went great. You should call them. Worked for me.

Interviewed at University of Nevada, Las Vegas
The whole interview process was really laid back. You do case report in the morning with the residents, then shortly after, you talk with some residents. The residents seem very happy and laid back. They put a lot of emphasis on how they don't have as busy hours as most other residencies and that schedules were usually pretty easy. Then you interview with 4 people: 2 residents, the program director, and a faculty member. None of them asked any difficult questions and questions were geared more towards knowing what type of person you are, so its best to just relax and be yourself. Then you tour the UMC hospital and then have lunch. During the tour and lunch you'll be with a resident, so feel free to ask any questions, they were pretty honest with their response
