interview season and Step 2?

Am thinking of rescheduling Step 2 CK but wanted to know when the interview season starts for anesthesia and prelim programs and how long it lasts??

Right now I'm sched off from middle of nov and sched to sit for step 2 right before xmas. Also have january off. I should have ample time to study but will probably need to go on some interviews in december. Is this a bad idea? I assume there will be time off of interviewing around the holidays too. Any thoughts on taking Step 2 around interview season?

My school interviews from mid-Nov until some time in Jan.

As for the Step II, taking it around Xmas is late if you need/want a superstar score to bump up your profile.

that's why i'm taking it late. because i like my step 1 score and don't want to show a negative trend on step 2

As long as you make sure to check the "do not automatically update programs with my scores" box, you'll just need to pass the stupid test. It's easier for most people than Step I and I think your plan will be fine.

i took step two around christmas time, mainly because it wouldn't fit into my schedule any other time, but also because i didn't have enough time with aways and interviews to study properly...so i thought my score might be lower. even with lack of adequate prep my step two went up a little. it is much easier and more straight forward than step one so i wouldn't worry too much about slipping.
matched at my first choice so it all totally worked out for me....and probably will for you too.

Hey guys, my Step 1 score was decent (219) and I really want my Step 2 score to boost my application. My question is, when does that score need to be in, in order to affect my application positively? The new Step 2 CK software nonsense that is going on says that scores will not be reported until 6-8 weeks after the exam, and I plan on taking my exam in the first week of September. Thoughts? Thanks guys

Took Step II right away in June so I could get it done. Got a great score, but was going to not release it if it sucked. The strategy worked well for me. My interview were from Mid November to Late January.

I thought that Step II scores were automatically released if the exam is taken prior to 9/1?

My understanding is that they are automatically released if the score is official before ERAS is submitted.

I think I'm gonna take it right after Thanksgiving. Leaves Dec and Jan completely open.
