I had an interview today for a research position. I'd like to send a thank you email to the doctor that interviewed me. However, I didn't get his email address. Is it appropriate to ask his assistant for his email or should I just leave a message with her? Also, how would you ask the interviewer for his/her email? Would one bluntly ask for their email during the interview for a thank you note?

You could ask the assistant for the doctors email and then send the email yourself. I think that's the best way to go about it.

In case I have anymore questions could I get your email address?

Thank-you notes delivered in person are a little more sincere. I'd avoid e-mailing the professor.

You could also ask for his/her business card, "in case I have any more questions."

If this was faculty at a research institution, googling their name will probably turn up a research profile with their email address included.

You can do an email, or you can do a hand-written card. I think the hand-written stuff is better, but ultimately an email that carries meaning should be fine.

In terms of getting an individual's address, I have found faculty contact information by simply looking them up on google and at the school's departmental webpages...both for email and mailing addresses. It's up to you what you want to do.
