I was wondering.. is it best to thank your interviewer through email or handwritten? i called the school and they said my personal interviewer is easier to reach through email but also gave me an address to mail to. I'm leaning towards handwritten but want to know other people's thoughts. thanks!

hey so this thread kinda has mixed suggestions. Do you think we should still write a thank you email?

I followed this person's advice and did emails to all 4 of my interviewers thus far, all 4 responded and seemed to be happy I sent a thanks, but ultimately it's up to you, either would be better than none!

I'm an AEGD site director- speaking from my personal experience, I do appreciate it when applicants take the time to send a handwritten or follow up thank you email. I don't think it will ever hurt your chances of getting into a certain school by doing so (unless your thank you letter comes across as very fake and ingenuine), so I would say to write one especially for the schools you really want to gain acceptance into.

Thanks for your advise. I did email all 3 interviewers.

Thank you so much for you advise. I think my interviewers will like a thank you email as well.

Email is fine. Handwritten notes get tossed out and forgotten over time. Emails are almost permanent--better for if they want to re-review your application.

Also, 90% of handwriting is ineligible despite how clearly written the person writing them thinks it is.

When does it become too late to send a thank you? I had an interview at the end of September that I'd like to send a thank you for, but the last 2 and a half weeks have been absolutely crazy with midterms, meetings, work, and the like that it completely fell off my radar. Basically, is there even a point to sending it so late? Could sending it so late actually potentially look worse than not sending it at all?

You've waited too long. You're hitting almost a month if you round up. Convention is you send it after a few days (not business days mind you). Everyone has a different opinion and articles on Google will conflict with each other. End of the day, do whatever you feel is best. You wouldn't want to regret anything, right? Can it hurt you? No. Two weeks past interview is generally the decision period so I would say they already decided to accept or decline you.

How long did it typically take for them to respond?

Next day or same day depending on when I sent them. The next day ones I emailed later in the afternoon, the same day ones I emailed in the morning.

It really depends, I sent 3 thank you letters and only 2 responded back. They don't really need to respond back, or it depends on how often they check their email.

Nothing yet. Its scary to think they might not be interested in me and that's why? IDK may be I am over thinking.
I think you may be overthinking this. You were worried that if you get no reply back, that means they're not interested; but conversely, if they do reply back, that doesn't necessarily mean they are interested in accepting you. As another poster had mentioned, it really depends on the interviewer whether or not they will respond back. Personally, whenever I get a thank you email, I try to respond within a few days to acknowledge that I received their email.
