I did not get the impression from Nova that they saved slots for the last interview dates, so as long as there are spots open (which I haven't heard otherwise), your chances for acceptance are pretty good. Just knock out the interview and you should be fine ;-)

Oooh. I see. When did you send in your application? I'm still waiting for something from them.

They interview 5 students/day. I think it fluctuates how many days/week they interview. I don't know how many students they have accepted so far, just keep in mind that some students who were accepted at Nova hold out for UF, so spots will definitely open up if they are close to full.

wow I am worried now!! Is there a number or something we can call to find out about the available spots!!
That is why i took the earlisest date...
Neways I want to know how long after an interview we come to know that we were accpeted?
What kinda questions they ask?

Congratulations on the interview. Although I feel Nova is unorganized for the admissions process. I've read that people have been invited for interviews even though they sent in everything in January. I sent in everything in November and haven't heard anything yet. Whenever I call them, it's either hard to reach or it's not much of a help. UF on the other hand has offered me an interview in March and I'm looking forward to it as it is my top choice for pharmacy school. Anyway, good luck to everyone in the cycle.

Ohh Congrats and good luck..

Can you please let us know your stats?

mine is not that great
I have a science GPA of 3.6 and overall 3.7
PCAT of 76

Mine are not that great:
Have a BS in Molecular Biology and Microbiology at UCF
Cumulative GPA is 3.15 (my GPA for the last 70 credits is 4.0)
PharmCAS Science GPA is 3.52

PCAT Composite is 85

Extra Curriculars
* Volunteered in the hospital pharmacy dept for two years
* Member of PreMed AMSA
* Took part in a medical trip to Honduras for a week
* Former president and co-founder of International Medical Outreach at UCF

Does any one know an updated Expense for attending Pharmacy College at NOVA?

Does any one know an updated Expense for attending Pharmacy College at NOVA?
FL resident tuition: 20359 + 894 (fees)
Non resident tuition: 23739 + 894 (fees)
I am not sure how updated these numbers are, but I received them during my interview in October 07.

tuition and cost..
On the web it says 18,000 lol they like keep on increasing every year sad 🙁

FLPharm to be.. how long after did you get an acceptance letter?

~4 weeks after my interview. I interviewed early October and received the letter early November.

Well, as long as it doesn't increase as much as PBA we'll be fine if we get in. PBA is now 28,400 plus 2000 for a mandatory tablet we have to pay for the first year.

yeah true I had an interview there but itz like my last choice hehehe if i get accpeted.

I graduate from Nova (palm beach campus) this May. I was in one of the first groups to be interviewed and I received my acceptance letter very shortly after the interview. I believe it was somewhere around 3 weeks. It was a certified (big) package that had a ton of info in it.

If this helps anyone getting ready to interview with Nova soon, I once had an administrator tell me that Nova looks for the most well rounded students....not the students with the highest PCAT or GPA. They really like to see empathy and patient-centered caring. I had questions like how I handled stress, etc.

Any questions, just ask and I'll answer as I get time.

1 - Did you complete a BS? If not, how many credits you had.
2 - When you got your acceptance, what were the conditions regarding grades and GPA for the spring and summer semesters.
3 - Did they include any financial aid package/materials?
4 - If it's not too personal, how are you paying for school, living expenses, room and board? Is it possible to live out of loans for the 4 years to better focus on school?

Thank you!! 🙂

I'm a P1 at Nova West Palm Beach campus...it's actually in Palm Beach Gardens. I'm looking for an incoming P1 female roomie. I'll be a P2, so we will have completely different schedules...which will make things pretty easy to study. I will go to class from around 8 til noon, out on Mondays and as a P1, you will go from noon or 1 til 5. If anyone has any questions or comments. send me a msg. Good luck to everyone! NSU is an awesome school and I absolutely love it!!!!!

I'm waiting for two of my dream schools: UF & NSU

UF: Because it is super cheap (like $12Gs/year... OMG)

NSU: Because it's close to home, thus making UF's tuition nonexistent.

UF at least told me I'd hear from them in March, whereas NSU absolutely does not respond back (and I don't annoy them either).

Good News: I met an NSU student recently and she pointed out that there are still many 'many' seats left at NSU Palm Beach Gardens campus. In fact, she only got her acceptance 1 month before school started last year. She said to keep the hopes high!

I'm still dreaming of the day I'll get that call!

So: to those who interviewed, keep your hopes high. 5minutes where are you?

How did you find out that you would hear from them in March? I was hoping to get an invite for the Feb 29th interview but its not looking too good.

Around the time NSU was not responding to emails or phone calls, I decided to email UF. A reply came saying that they were looking at overall applicants (GPA, PCAT, LORs, E.Cs etc...) but particularly PCAT of 90th+ and 80ths %iles. I think they are waiting for my new PCAT that comes this week and decided that March was the likely time I'd hear from them (interview invite or not).

1st choice: UF (psychologically)
2nd choice: NSU (best by location)
3rd choice: LECOM BRADENTON
4tch choice: PBA

For a first time applicant, I'm at 50% for interviews. I await the other 50% (UF & NSU). I applied to Florida schools only because I love the weather here and also don't want to leave the state.

UF will probably notify you of your interview a month in advance. I received an invitation in the mail on February 7 for an interview at the Orlando Campus on March 14. If I were to guess, when they notify you in March it would be for the April interview. Which campus is your first choice for UF?

I agree with your assessment. I wanted to add that in my post but forgot lol. I chose Gainesville as my first choice for several reasons. I actually WANT to have the CHOICE to go to lecture or not. I don't trust myself too much with video lectures. In addition, I don't want to be isolated too much. I really want to enjoy school atmosphere whether I'll be busy or not. A friend of mine heard back April 20th or so of last year. Ultimately, wherever I get accepted I'll be happy. Least happy would be PBA, though. Why? Because I don't really believe the extras they require you to do makes a good pharmacist. I'm fairly motivated and I actually want to be a good clinical pharmacist. I want to do extras at my own choosing and time. For this reason, Bradenton carries more weight than PBA.

What are your Stats?

WHat were your stats newRx

Hey landakerjenna, do you know Vishy & Aruna Anand. If you are from India, they are iconic figures overthere.

You asked me for my stats. Although I listed them elsewhere, I will do so now. Also, I'm never apologetic about my stats and I believe that it has netted me two interviews thus far. I'm still hopeful for two more interviews in the state of Florida. I hear people complain 'mediocre' stats with 90 PCAT and sub 3.0 - 3.2 GPA and I believe not being positive from the onset about what you learned can be a major culprit for not getting interviews. The goal is to get interviews first (of course) and if your personal statement seems the same like the hundreds of others they received, then you have not done enough. I got interviews with my stats because I wrote a creative personal statement, I had great LORs because I've been told that by the schools, I did some tutoring and volunteered in hospital, never in a pharmacy. I explained right away why I lack experience in my statement. An applicant must first show a creative statement to get interviews first despite somewhat low stats. So I don't complain about my stats; I hope people will not freak out about 88 PCAT (as subpar, geez). What does that make me: I should be paranoid. The truth is I'm at 50% with interviews and awaiting others and I'm sure I'll hear from them.

Cumulative GPA: 3.28+, 3.35 science GPA

PCAT: 61 (while I took 22 credits of science, labs, and stats; 3.5 term

GPA) 53 in verbal (??) was culprit for low score, else I could have had 70+.

Tutored math and English

Volunteered in hospital

Worked to support myself

Great LORs (did creative projects in some classes whose professors wrote
me LORs)

That's it folks, so STOP stressing about 3.1-3.2 range GPA and 80-90+ PCAT.

P.S. A friend of mine got into UF with 60 PCAT, but she was in medical school in her country, she had load of pharmacy experience, she was a pharmtech, aced most of her science courses. You never know what the admissions committee is looking for. Also, they was a well rounded individual and they want upcoming class to have diversity in experience amongst other things.

Your sarcasm is well taken. You posted some threads about Indian applicants, so I was guessing you were from India. I love the game of chess and Anand just recently won the world championship. In addition, he has won the hearts of many fans around the world. I just thought it'd be fun to give a positive fact about India. If you didn't find that amusing, disregard the comment. Besides, they want be of anyhelp to you here on SDN. Good luck with Nova interview!

You and I are in the same situation. For some reason UF is my first choice, but I would be VERY happy to go NSU. It is oh so close to home. I just want to be accepted somewhere and it is really nice to have interviews!!

You guys should definitely choose NSU. I heard UF sucks! 🙄

Just know why you want to go to Nova and they will ask specifics from your file. Be able to explain low semester hours (less than 18 hrs), any poor grades, PCAT, work experience. They pulled alot of questions from my personal statement. Just relax, they are big on work experience. The Palm Beach campus is just a building...you don't see alot of people besides those in your class! There are no other students there besides RX students. Ft Lauderdale is a large campus and it's like a "college campus atmosphere" whereas Palm Beach isn't. As far as learning, it's live video. You can't tell that you're not in front of a professor b/c your looking at powerpoint slides most of the time and the camera will switch to professor if needed! Attendance is mandatory at Palm Beach campus and roll is taken in every class, but you won't get kicked out for skipping. I love it here in Palm Beach, the area is very upscale! Good luck! I may see you around! It takes about 6 wks to get a decision, it comes certified mail in a big package...

I am a 1PD at the Orlando campus now! I lived in Gainesville and chose to move to attend a distance campus and I love it! Let me know if you have any questions...Congrats on the interview.

For everyone who has interviews at UF for Feb and March, when did you submit your pharmcas and supplemental?

I still haven't heard anything, but I know mine was super late (pharmcas submitted Jan 3 and mailed Jan 30).

So, I was wondering about the time frame of hearing from them.

probablytoolate, I sent all of my stuff in late October or early November but my LORs didn't come in until mid December. I think you don't have to worry yet because your stats look pretty good.
