Could we say that the % of people who received an interview on predent is statistically proprotional to the % of total applicant of each school that received an interview?

Ie: NYU predent has 64 people invited (17%) of 376. With nearly 4000 applicants...17% of that is nearly 680.

I always assume that predents and these forums consist of students who are above average in most areas.

I second that. SDN students are students that probably take more initiative and have more drive than the average pre-dental student. I'm sure there many students that aren't very interested in dentistry--those students don't spend time looking on SDN forums to find the best way to study for DAT and the best way to prepare an application for dental school.

Interesting points hmm.

people on SDN and Predent.com are clearly smarter, harder working, more genuine, more caring, better looking, contribute more to society, have more kids on average, and are just better human beings in general. You know, generations of large family breeding.

Naturally, the % interviewed on Predents is far higher than the percentage of total people that applied.

Once I started school this year I ran into a few classmates who hadn't completed their AADSAS apps until late into November and beyond.

From having spent so much time on SDN I didn't even think things like that happened. I just assumed everyone submitted their applications on May 15th just like 95% of SDN predents.

I would agree that dedicated SDNers tend to be a bit more motivated, leading to skewed statistics.

I think that by the end of augest that 99.9% of sdn people have submitted. Honestly I do think sdn people are more proactive

I sure hope the rest of the predental world aren't like us (well, yall since I submitted my app in august), that'll be way too much competition.

i recommend you to buy ADEA Guide to Dental Admissions.
it has all the information about how many applicants, interviews, accepted, and also race / sex / in-state / out-of-state plus median GPA and DAT and etc.

it'll definately help you with getting the real idea
