Hi guys!
I have a 3.3 gpa but about 3 C's in prereq. I have4 interview so far and I went to my first one yesterday. And the whole time the interviewer was asking why I got such low grades and that my grades were unimpressive and that I'm a good candidate but pharmacy is really competitive. And this school isn't even a top school it's first class just graduated in 2011. So basically how do I go about explaining bad grades ? And why would they interview me if they thought I had bad gpa?
This school doesn't require supp essays so it can't be my writing that got the interview.

Sorry if there are grammar mistakes I typed this on my iPhone .

So basically answer why you made bad grades, I know what I just said tortured you.

Analyze what you did wrong and explain why you made such mistakes. Then go back and decide what could you have done before to prevent it and explain how the experience has helped you to become a better student.

So yeh basically all he cared about was to know about my grades and hardly let me finish my answer about anything else

He made me feel so bad about myself I'm really discouraged now if the rest of my interviews are like this too 🙁

One important thing to understand is that if these types of questions surprised you, I have to question your interview preparation skills.

An interviewer can pick apart your application and frankly, if you weren't expecting that, you didn't prepare properly for your interview.

Furthermore, interviews aren't always hand holding experiences where they laud you for your application. Pharmacy school applications can be very competitive. Consequently, I fully expect to get ripped apart for a year of 0.7 GPA in undergrad, but I've been preparing for that for the past 10 years. =) Therefore, if you're going to break down and question yourself after getting asked about C's on your transcript, I question your ability to handle more difficult situations. *shrug*

The most important thing to do is to develop an answer for these questions that represents YOU. Why did you receive poor grades? Introspection is a lost art with many people. Things happen TO them, therefore, their responses are reactionary. Thus, by showing that you can own up to your deficiencies on your application, demonstrating that you've learned from them and can (to the best of your ability) prevent them from happening again, it will make you a stronger interviewee.

Good luck with the interview process!

OP, did you address why you got 3 Cs in pharma prereqs in your personal statement? If so, use the same answer you gave there.

Thanks guys. I did answer as best as I could and told them that I have learned from my mistakes.
