I've had some interviewers who literally took zero notes while we were talking. How are they supposed to remember who you are and what they liked/didn't like about you? Maybe they just take notes after you leave the room, but I have always expected every interviewer to write SOMETHING down. Heh, it'd be bad if they mixed you up with a horrible applicant.😀

I was just wondering if this is happening to everyone else.

Some interviewers do fill out your evaluation directly after you leave the room. This is probably what happened in your situation.

Many interviewers want to actually get to know you for an hour and take it all in -- they will jot down their thoughts immediately afterwards. They feel it makes it a more conversational experience, and lets them find out if you are someone they could see working with better than a "check the box" type interview. Just run with it, it's usually to your advantage.

I had an interviewer who made me wait outside while he finished up his notes on the previous interviewee. He didn't write anything down while talking to me either. I think interviewers who wait until after you leave to write down their impressions do it to keep the conversation moving and to keep you from getting nervous and trying to see what they're writing.

They take some notes or maybe fill out the eval right afterward. I guess if you're bad or good enough, they'll remember you anyway!

I had one interview where my interviewer literally took notes the WHOLE time - she covered an entire sheet of paper front and back. It made me super nervous, and i felt like she wasn't really listening to what I was saying aside from the direct answers to her questions (hardly any eye contact!). I ended up indefinitely waitlisted there, and I genuinely think it might have been partly because she didn't catch the context in my answers. The next interview I had at a different school was totally different. I could see the eval form just lying on my interviewer's desk, and he didn't so much as touch it the whole time. I ended up getting accepted to this school 🙂

None of my interviewers have ever taken notes while I was still in the room.

one of my interviewers doodled on the corner of his paper while we were talking, but i believe he writes after the interview. at least he did for the person before me. lol

All right, good. It's just strange to me because I have been in interviews where the interviewers took many notes, and with some of these schools, the interviews have been strictly conversational so I was wondering if they even needed to take notes other than "He sucks."

OR they've already decided that they do like you before you've walked in the door. 😉

Many, perhaps most of my interviewers have not taken notes, so I hope this is true.

It seems weird that I've had a bit of a different experience than you all, but every single interviewer I've had so far has taken notes (except for at EVMS, but that's different since it's a 3-person panel that interviews you).

hmm i just had an interview in which the interviewer didnt' take notes either... and he followed me right out the door when we were done in order to get the next interviewee, so i'm sure he didn't fill out an evaluation right after i was done..i wonder how he keeps track of us all...
