I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips, either students or people who have recently interviewed.

I'm looking up hotels and stuff in the area and I've called a couple of them to ask for rates. I'm hearing numbers around the $100 range, but I don't know if I want to pay that much.

I'm wondering which hotels offer shuttle service not only from the airport but also to/from DMU. I know the Des Moines Marriot-Downtown offers round-trip shuttle service for $10.

Is there a specific hotel that you guys would recommend?

I did the des moines marriot downtown it was $100 and a baller hotel.

i just called the hotels listed on DMU's page... here's the information i got from the front desks:

Des Moines Marriot-Downtown
$99, free airport shuttle, $10 extra for round-trip shuttle to DMU

Renaissance Savery Hotel
$104, free airport shuttle, no guaranteed shuttle service to DMU (based on availability)

Heartland Inn
$58, free airport shuttle, no shuttle to DMU

Hampton Inn - Airport
$79, free airport shuttle, no shuttle to DMU

Holiday Inn-Holidome
$85, free airport shuttle, free DMU shuttle

Holiday Inn-Drake
$94, didn't ask about shuttles.

For the hotels that do not offer shuttles to DMU, you can grab a cab at a base rate of $2.00 plus $2.00 per mile. most of the hotels are within 4 miles of DMU, so you could probably be safe budgeting around $20 for the round trip.

hopefully this helps any other people trying to figure out hotels

I stayed at the Wildwood Lodge. It was a little goofy with all the antlers and bright colors, but the bed was extremely comfortable, it was clean, quiet, and cheap (I think 60 bucks). I don't know if they do shuttles but it is in a suburb so you'll have to take a taxi if not. Good luck on your interview!

I would recommend any of these hotels as they are all very nice hotels and in a good area (either downtown or by the airport).
Des Moines Marriott-Downtown
Renaissance Savery Hotel
Holiday Inn-Holidome
I recently had friends in town and used Priceline.com to get a hotel for them. I picked the downtown area for 3.5 star hotels and got the Hotel Savery for $75/ night.
Good luck
