Interviewing: How does it work?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
you have to pay mucho dinero..plane, hotel, whatever it takes....or you can stay with a student gratis

No Sir-ee-bob, you have to dig DEEP into your pockets for everything! At 2 of 3 schools I've been, we had to pay for parking as well. This stuff is expensive; you have to plan for this stuff ahead of the game--save money or get a loan.

The medical school interview process is definitely geared for those with money (or those that can get money). Don't forget about the cost of some nice clothes, dry-cleaning that suit, a new haircut, etc. And if you live in a remote area without a medical school (like Fairbanks, Alaska) the minimum airfare just to get out of the state is about $500. It would be very difficult for a poor person from Fairbanks, Alaska (and I won't even discuss the more remote village in which it costs $500 just to get to Fairbanks) to interiew for medical schools.
