Hello all,

So I'm a re-applicant this year, and I wanted to know if anyone was familiar with what the chances are of getting an interview at the same school 2 years in a row? I have improved my application in all aspects since last year if that helps. I was hoping to get invited to interview again at the schools I had interviews at last year (Creighton, Ohio State, U of Utah) but I didn't know how this typically works...I read on the boards that re-applicants are given lower priority than first timers but I have a hard time believing that since I tend to think that interview invites / acceptances are based on qualifications regardless of how many times you've applied to the school. Anyways, if anyone could shed some light on this, that would be awesome. Thanks

Some schools prefer reapplicants. Some have a bias against them. Most don't consider them if they didn't show substantive improvements of some sort since last applying. Regardless, my impression over the years from feedback I've read in SDN posts (thus not relaible since an equal sample size from all poles of the range may not be reporting, and reports are made mostly before the end of each season when hope still remains) is that less than 50% of the time does one get a second offer to interview at the same school. A better way to get a less-biased answer might be to design a poll and post in PreMedAllo/Osteo or in Reapplicants.

I always felt the same way about SDN not always having the best sample size and members often make hasty conclusions based on unreliable numbers. Nonetheless, I'll keep everyone up to date to see if I am able to get a re-interview at any of those schools. I'm hopeful since I had spoken with at least one of the dean's and he stated that if I improve in the areas I have improved on, I would have a much better chance at acceptance this next year, but you never know!

Thanks for your input Catalystik. If there's anyone else who was a successful 2nd interview please let me know!

Here is a link to the poll I've made in the Re-applicants forum: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=865080

I applied 2 cycles and received an interview to a DO school, which I turned down. This cycle, I reapplied, and received an interview and was accepted 3 weeks later.
