Third Interview today at Case Western 😀 I've just decided to give up being worried about this thing. I haven't received any information other than face sheets from 95% of the programs that I applied to. Any news would be good news at this point. I'm bracing myself for the no's that are surely about to start coming in. I'll be very happy to start hearing that the programs that I'm really interested in have given out some interviews. Any news from the southeast programs yet?

I heard from Med U South Carolina today by phone.

Our med school just handed out AOA (there is no junior vs. senior AOA) and I was selected 😀 . I sent a letter to CAS today, but that takes weeks to get to the programs and I am worried about rejections coming before they get the news. Is it appropriate to call each of the programs and update my status, or how else should I handle it? 😕

Thanks in advance

Case Western On Hold For Interview.... 😕 😕 😕 😕 😕

Hi! I'm a long time viewer, first post. Thanks much to everyone! Interviews so far:UW Mad, Roch, Mnpls, Med U of SC. On-hold at Case W.(?!?).
I've been stressed out these last few days: other than the white confirmation sheets, I have not really heard much at all. Went for a run, took a shower, soon will be watching a movie with my best friend along with a nice cool beer....hope you all can do the same. I'll probably start stressing out a little on Monday, but till then cheers! (From the midwest, batch #2).

Anyone not hear from CWRU yet? It sounds like some people got invites and some got wait listed, but I haven't heard anything from them.

If you look back through the thread, there are some SE schools.

I've personally heard from UF, MCG, LSU-Shreveport, and U Arkansas regarding interviews. I pretty much blanketed the SE.

SUNY Upstate - Syracuse (10/16, email)

On hold at CWRU email (I think this means no)
Interview at UT Galveston (email)

🙂 UIC today, via email, batch 3. 👍

Colorado 👎

This is so discouraging!! No interviews yet. Batch 6.

Step 1 is 213 (which I hope I make up for on Step 2!)---Middle Tier, Lots of research, masters degree, volunteer, good LORs.

Interviews at
UTSW
Case (wait list)

Rejections at
UMinn
Baylor
Portland
Colorado (today) +pity+

I'm hoping for a little :luck:

Are the Colorado rejections coming via email or snail mail? I'm on an away rotation and my wife doesn't care about my interviews as much as I do so she only checks the mail at most twice a week. Thus if the rejection came by mail it is probably sittin in my mailbox waiting for me to come home.

I THINK I HAVE SLIGHTLY HIGHER NUMBERS ON ALL COUNTS :scared: (including ONE interview 👍 ).. have already started thinking of Plan B.

I feel bad posting with so many people getting dicouraged 🙁 . I wish everyone the best -- there are still a lot of programs that haven't given out interviews if my calculations are correct.

👍 SUNY- Syracruse (email)
👎 CPMC (mail) - actually they wrote that an interview is "not likely." I figure that's as good as a "forget about it."

I've applied to 70 programs. Considering I have no interviews and close to 10 rejections, does anyone think it would be wise to apply to more programs at this stage?

Stats: Step 1 233, + Research, FMG, great LORs.

I think that this is why, unfortunately. My dean sent out a letter today saying many programs are waiting until dean's letter comes in before deciding. Here's hoping to a full mailbox come november. :luck:

I kind of wish they wouldn't wait so we can start to solidify our travel plans. I don't think there is much of anything in my dean's letter that cannot be extrapolated from my preclinical and clinical grades and/or my other letters of rec/ personal statement. The letter is such a rehash of our whole package, the dean (who usually barely knows you) just compiles our grades and throws in comments from clinical evals. I want some west coast offers and it seems as though only CPMC has sent out any offers out here. Not that I expect to see a whole lot of good replies from California, but at least some rejections would allow me to give up my dreams of being able to stay near my family.

I think so many deadlines have passed that it probably isn't that great of an idea. But you could try to hit a few more that haven't had their deadlines pass, it will only hurt your wallet.

I've been off of the forum for quite over a month due to travel, but it's exciting to be back and see how all the interviews are shaping up! I hand-delivered my application to SFMatch on Sept 1, which made me Batch 3, and my interview offers so far are:

👍
UTSW
CPMC
Baylor
Oklahoma
Mayo
Arizona
Cleveland Clinic
Tufts
Colorado

All were via e-mail except Tufts, and were offered in approximately that order. I haven't heard any rejections or waitlists or much of anything yet from other programs, though I know at least one of my classmates received an interview at USC and I haven't heard from them. Wish there was a *twiddling thumbs* emoticon!

Best of luck to everyone, and I'm sure I'll meet a lot of you in the coming months! 😀

Krieger Eye Institute in Baltimore today via email. Their interview dates are 12/15 and 12/16. 👍

Sent in my regular application before the split from Hopkins was announced so I sent in Sinai as a supplemental distribution list several weeks ago. When I failed to get back a face sheet, I checked with SFMatch, who claims not to have ever received the supplemental list (even though I have a copy of the fax confirmation). I guess the ship has sailed on that one...

Can't wait till they switch over to a professional, student-friendly application system.

Rejection at Ohio State today, via snail-mail.

👍 Yeah, you would think that an electronic distribution of application materials would equate with the applicant electronically transmitting the completed application, and being able to verify which programs have downloaded it. I think ENT had the right idea this year.

One offer today from the southeast: UAB via snail mail. Interviews are only November 11 and 12.

I agree with everything you guys are saying about the student-friendly application...but I'm still glad that we match early! 😀

No good news in > 3 weeks 🙁

Tonight I was actually studying! yep studying. Well, i took a five minute break to go to the grocery store and ended up buying 3 powerball tickets. the jackpot is $340 million. So for the entire hour after that, until the numbers were drawn, all i could think about was how this entire process of matching would mean absolutely nothing if I won the powerball. i was actually living in a dream world for an hour. Would you? I think I would still be an ophthalmologist Take home point being: don't buy lotto tickets because you think all your problems of the match are cured, but then instantly you find out that your're more likely to become the president than win the powerball. So I guess our odds of matching into ophtho are much better. So keep your head up. Congrats to whoever won that powerball tonight.
