This list of invites is getting depressing. I really wanted to stay on the West Coast but it seems as though they have almost all sent offers and somehow excluded my name from the list. 😕
 
At this stage of the game, should we consider those programs who havent replied one way or the other as Rejections ? I was told that some programs have an unofficial waitlist which they dont bring out unless they really need it. If thats true, how much longer should we wait before sending out the rank lists ? Thanks for the replies and good luck with the interviews everyone.
 
Rejection from University of St. Louis via e-mail tonight. The reason: "due to the extreme increase in Ophthalmology applicants." Crap.

Just to let people know, I had written Stanford an email asking this exact question: Whether they had sent everything out, Whether not hearing means rejection at this point, etc.

And the secretary replied to my email with a rejection.

So, I'm not sure what this means: 1. I pissed them off with the email (though I believe I wrote it very nicely), 2. They are finished, haven't gotten around to sending the rejections, and the secretary was nice enough to respond to me truthfully, or 3. There is a waitlist, and I was too far down and the secretary just "let me go."

You can interpret this however you want. I think at this point, it's better just to hear the bad news than holding on... especially with all the overlapping dates.

I think holding on is still reasonable at this point, because I only just got interview offers from Stanford and University of Wash (Seattle) this week with several interview dates offered -- I think that would mean they haven't yet contacted everyone yet. Good luck to all of us that are waiting!!
 
U of M is 7-5 with a casual dinner afterward for those who are not traveling out of town.

I second that... Just got contacted by UCSF... Also, invites may be coming out as people get more comfortable at dropping interviews due to geographic constraints... may not be applicable to Cali progs, but just dropped Shreveport and WVU the other day myself...

It was an individually addressed email so I don't know how many received an invitation, but it sounds like when I called the Sunday date was already starting to fill up. At least it was more popular than Sat.

Got an email too, but just curious - their website lists the following dates:
November 12th, 19th, and December 3rd, 2005.

Where did Nov 11th come from??? Did anyone get offered other dates?
 
Hey does anyone know if it's worthwhile to call programs to see if they're still inviting people for interviews ie to show you're still interested in the program even if you haven't heard? Or would an email be better? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Doodpac, congrats for all the interviews. Was wondering if you mailed in the 'Tulane application' that had to be sent in besides the CAF documents? I did not receive any acknowledgement from them regarding this and was wondering if you could shed some light ?? Thanks a lot..

I did send them the secondary application before i even submitted the CAS application because I contacted the program and said that they would be able to accept my tulane app even before my CAS went out. Hope this helps. Good luck.
 
I got an interview offer from Tulane and I did not send them the secondary form as there web site went down post Katrina. So apparently it was not necessary.

In case anyone is still wondering, I just found out that Mass Eye & Ear does not have an open spot for the special program this year.
 
Sorry to bother everyone, but due to very unusual circumstances I really need to switch my Dec. 9th Iowa interview to Dec. 16th. Is there anyone out there who is scheduled at Iowa for the 16th that would be willing to switch with me??

Yeah... that's kind of a problem. Obviously I can't go to all the interviews. I've cancelled a lot already, but I'm trying to limit it to fewer than 15... sort of arbitrary. Which then leaves me with really arbitrary decisions to make, such as Stanford vs. NYEEI? But I'm not complaining...
 
Is anyone please willing to trade their 11/11 (Sunday) Emory interview date for one on 11/10 (Saturday)?
