Hey guys,

Do y'all know if schools wait for verified apps to start offering interviews? I've had secondaries in for more than a month, some more than two months, and yet no word about interviews. I was verified briefly for a one week period. Then I changed something and now I'm back to being unprocessed. So, do they wait to get a verified app before offering interviews?

Thanks y'all

Nope. I actually got all of my interview invites (6) before being verified. Since verification I haven't gotten any.

Good luck,

Adam

I don't know what they wait for. I have been verified for over a month, and I have had some secondaries in over three months ago. I submitted the primary on July 6 and still have yet to receive any interviews. Lets just hope they save the best applications for last...

well, some schools are waiting for some type of verified forms before giving interviews. BUT i think most schools are offering interviews without fully verified applications. that means that any acceptances that you have are pending until AMCAS fully verifies your application.

I think most do, but some don't. You need to do something about being unverified. When did you submit? When did you make the change that got you unverified? I'd contact Nancy Tillinghast at [email protected] and tell her the next thing she hears from you will be from your lawyer because AMCAS's incompetence and delay at processing your app is putting you at a competitive disadvantage because most schools use rolling admissions. This approach worked like a charm for me and a number of other people on this board. Doesn't matter if you really have a lawyer, as she won't know if you do or not. If you do actually have a lawyer, just have him/her fax Nancy a letter, and I guarantee they'll verify you within a couple of days. Good luck!!

Another thought, did you send paper copies of your AMCAS app out to the schools that are taking them?

Hi SMW,

Thanksgiving festivities have put me out of commission for the days since your post. Anyway, I already did that lawyer thing when I wanted to get my app verified the first time around. I submitted 7/22 and heard nothing until I sent them an email threatening legal action. I was verified the next day on 10/20! Anyway, I didn't know if I should pull the same thing again for this time around. Will it work again? I called them and they said that since I was processed once, they are putting my file on hold because they want to process the people who hadn't even been processed yet. This doesn't make any sense to me!! What if they submitted after me? Am I penalized for updating my file? What the heck? Do you think I should threaten again?

Yes, and give them the reason about being at a competitive disadvantage. If at all possible, have a lawyer do it. You won't believe how nice they'll be to you once they hear from a lawyer!! Making a change shouldn't unverify you!

What did you change on your AMCAS? I'd be deathly afraid to change ANYTHING, even my address. I think I'd just call the schools individually instead. As far as updating grades, well, FORGET IT. Too bad we can't trust them...

I had to update one of my EC's. With all this running around doing AMCAS's job (and paying for it), I kinda stoped working in my lab. So, I had to go in and change the dates of my working there since I had anticipated to work there until May. Anyway, if anyone's thinking about changing anything, be forewarned. As for me, I'm going to send Ms. Tillinghast another letter and hope she's as nice and efficient as the first time around. Thanks everyone. I love how everybody takes time out to reply to everybody. This is such a cool, supportive forum.

Be sure to send paper apps to the schools who will take them and I would even call the schools (without driving them nuts) and tell them about your specific situation if nothing happens soon! Contact Nancy first and be firm with the reasons why you need your app to be complete!!! Good luck 🙂
