interviews : elaborate them or keep em simple?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
for interviews, should I give them bulletpoints and keep it simple or elaborate my answers?
If evens: former, and if odds: latter .....pretty straight forward, huh? 😀😀😀

depends on the question...

"Do you want to be a dentist?" "yes I do"

"Why do you want to be a dentist?" "Because I like it" <----elaboration is required

When you're practicing, ask yourself "why?" after each answer. Keep doing it until you arrive at a personal experience and then wham-o. There's your answer.

Who talks in bullet point lists in real life. We use personal anecdotes in our conversations. At least the interesting ones.

I would elaborate on almost everything. The reason they extend an interview invite is to get a feel for who you are, so it's your job to sell yourself to them and let them know why you want to be a dentist, what your ultimate goals are in dentistry, why you'd be a good fit, etc. If you keep things too short, they won't see your personality and it'll likely be a rejection. Some important advice was given to me a little bit ago- an interview is not the time to be shy!
If I looked at it from their point of view.. I would not want someone who gives short answers to everything because it doesn't feel very personable. To be a great dentist you have to be personable.

Good luck and hope all goes well! :luck:

It depends on the type of interview. If you are doing MMI format where you have series of question for limited time or group interview like LECOM, you don't have enough time to elaborate but keep the answers as simple as possible to answer all the questions and if it's group interview, to be collaborative and considerate to other applicants.
