Do any schools give out interviews during the weekend?

For those that had to miss lectures/labs to attend interviews, was your professors/lab instructors okay with it? If not, how did you go about it?

Yep. I let them know at least a week in advance that I wouldn't be there, explained that I wouldn't have missed their class if I had a different option for interview date, got notes from classmates, and completed all assignments before schedule. In light of this behavior, they waived the penalty for missing classes.

Ive gone to two interviews during my lab period. My instructor was fine with it.

Good to know. Was it a lecture or lab you missed? I want to schedule a 3-4 hour lab of mine on a Friday but I don't want it to conflict on a potential interview date.

Yeah? I just absolutely hate missing lab or my lectures, making up work, etc. I can imagine my lab instructor saying, "Interview? Nah, that's not gonna cut it." lol

It was lab. The instructor was fine with it as long as my lab partner was okay with doing the work by themselves on those days. So, I bought him lunch twice. Lol

Whoops. Wrong quote. I shouldn't walk and sdn at the same time.

lmao, your lab partner is the real MVP

Better yet, has anyone here ever had a lab instructor tell you that an interview wasn't gonna cut it?

I dont think any proffesors can be that much of an a$$hole. they know how important this is, plus you can alway make up a lab you missed at the end of the semester, for my school at least.

lol, it's possible, man. The extent to which a professor can be an a$$hole has no bounds, from my experience.

I'm gonna be missing anatomy lab this Monday for an interview. All I had to do was email the lab director about it and they just moved me to a different lab section during the same week next week

I think it depends on the profs and how your attitude has been in the class.
I missed almost like half the lecture and lab time but the prof was very understanding.
They even moved the test date to accomodate so that was very nice of them.

Just let them know ahead of time.

Missed two physics lab, TA's allowed me to make it up during another lab section. Pretty hard to say no when you're pursuing higher education, unless you don't tell them in advance.

I'm Rick James, *****!

Was told interviews come first by a few professors lol
No one has minded but I made sure all my classes were with professors who knew me, knew my goals, and knew I would make up the work

Meh... thanks tho. I only applied to the top schools in cali.
It just goes to show that classmates like this exist. They will eventually be "colleagues." But once the real world comes after dental school, patients don't care about grades or statistics, they will care about competence in dentistry, and they will care about communication.

This individual will get into dental school, but they are going to have a VERY difficult 4 years. I feel bad for her classmates...

I was just reading another thread she made...I am confident that she or he is a troll.
most likely a pre-dent who has not even applied or applied with low stats and trying to intimidate other applicants.

Under normal circumstances I would agree, but she's been doing this for a while. She has made a few normal posts but then just reverts back to being mean and nasty. It's sad, really. She seems smart, but the behavior she exhibits is really a shame; intellect can only get a person so far...

Is flowergirl even a girl?

Just remember that being a colleague is a two way street. As a professional, you need to bite your tongue on many occasions, even if you do not like the colleague or think they do bad work. It's very bad form to bash another dentist or their work. Likewise, just because a user is on post hold does not give license to say whatever disparaging remarks you want about them.
