I have had two interviews come via email only. There have been no messages from these programs in ERAS. Has this happened to anyone else?

I just don't want to miss out on any interviews in case the message to my email bounces or something.

I received an email but no ERAS message for my UMichigan invite. Which schools did this in your case?

U Nevada (Vegas) and Texas Tech El Paso.

I was worried about this too, but I figured I was being paranoid...

UMich and USF did the same for me.

Be paranoid... be very paranoid.

5/6 invites ive gotten came via email with no corresponding message in ERAS. I've been very paranoid. :scared:

This was explained to me like this:

The residency coordinator at most programs do the downloading/tracking/etc of the applications and pass that onto the person(s) who then decide who will or will not be interviewed. The CAF has our email address on it.

If you are in the 'interview pile', depending on the program/person, one coordinator may find it easier to open and contact via ERAS, the next may find it easier to contact by just typing the email.

Also, some programs may have an additional secretary or someone who does not have access to ERAS to do the actual email invitations, in which case they may just use the email address on the CAF.

Now, I have been told this is why its BEST to KEEP the SAME email that you initially submitted to ERAS and to always keep an eye on your trash/junk/spam folder.

Disclaimer as always, I too am a MSIV and really have no idea how the 'Gods' do their work.

That's right. My coordinator prefers to use the email address - that way she's got your address in her contact file thereafter without opening ERAS.

I figure that you should be fine if you make sure your email quota isn't full (or close to full) and you check your :spam: folder. If that is all good and your message still bounces, you have extremely bad luck and don't deserve a residency position. 😛

Not at all. I think there will be a perfect place for anyone. Everyone on this forum cares enough to invest their time (AKA +pad+) into the profession. This should pay off for the vast majority of us on match day. My main objective of the post was to have a chance to use the :spam: smilie. This is the goal-oriented approach to +pad+ing. 😉 Come on Yoda, you know I wouldn't be catty.😀

Hmm, I like the :spam: smilie!

Uh Oh, I didn't realize some peeps go through email only. I haven't been checking my spam folder and yahoo has a hell of a spam filter, grabbing all kinds of stuff. Oh well. If they really want me maybe they will email me back. Who knows. We'll see.
