Has anyone been invited for an interview prior to taking the DAT?

As far as I'm aware, most schools require your application to be complete before inviting you for an interview... and without DAT scores, your application is not complete. In fact, it's one major part of your applicaton that they consider when deciding who to invite for interviews. I'm not sure... there may be schools that do invite for interviews before DAT scores but I think many do not.

I would guess not. For example, last year I submitted in TX in May and took the DAT in August. Two days after faxing my scores to each school in TX, I received my first interview invite. Schools have so many applicants, it stands to reason that they wouldn't bother with somebody who has yet to prove themselves on the DAT front. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

DAT is the leveling ground for Dental schools in terms of the academic capabilities of a student. Since every undergraduate school is different, where some giving A's more readily than others, as well as the amount of material covered in a particular course. So, by having a standardized test that all students must take, dental schools are able to base their admissions on a student's academic potential on an exam that is equal and therefore a better assessment of a student's capabilities.

There are always exceptions. I know that you can pass preliminary screenings before your application is complete. Temple, UMKC, and Indiana invited me prior to receipt of the application fee. This is exactly what TEMPLE wrote to me "Only a small percentage of applicants are invited to interview prior to receipt of the application fee, so you should be proud of your academic accomplishments, to date." UCLA sent me its secondary application before they got my DAT scores !!!!!

very good, I got an invite from Case with one science letter (they want at least 2 science letters)
