If an IMG who has not done an rotation in emergency medicine applies for an EM residency without EM doc recommendations, what are his chance? In the winter of applying, he would do ER rotations in the States (i.e. in Oct-Dec).

Regardless if you're a IMG or not, most programs are not going to do anything with your application until they see an EM grade and 1-2 SLOR letters of recommendation.

September would be ok, but October would be pushing it because by the time your letters and grade showed up most schools would have given out a lot of interviews.

If you're going into EM, you need to make this rotation your priority.
