Interviews Yet??

I have received interviews to Nova and ICU so far. I took my OAT 9/17, so still waiting for IU and Missouri. However, Missouri said they haven't received any of my LORS. They got real rude with me when I told them they were sent months ago. I might pull out my app.

But that's the first and only school I've heard from. And it is the only school that has received all my materials! Almost all my other schools are missing a transcript there or a letter here. So, I guess mail gets lost pretty easily... =(

I wish everything can be put on a CD-ROM or somethin'!

I just reveived an interview from IU!! I am hyped.
 
Hey, I just got an invite to interview at UMSL on October 31. I turned my application in August 20. Anyone have an interview their yet?

Yeah I was pretty suprised at the timing...! I wasn't really expecting to hear anything until maybe like december b/c my scores are really avg...?

Oat was 320 and Science GPA was around 3.2 or 3.3 , overall GPA was around like 3.4/3.5

but i'm pretty sure you guys have scores higher than mine!! So goodluck!

I have an interview with SUNY and ICO so far... has anyone interviewed at any of these places yet? Any feedback you're willing to share?
 
hey benny416, when did you apply to ICO and when did you hear back from? what are your stats like?
 
i had my applications in by the second week of September.
my gpa is not that great, 3.3, but i did alright on the OAT: TS 370 and AA 350.
 
Has anyone heard back from SCCO or gotten an interview?

Dr. Munroe told me a week ago they have not started inviting for interviews yet, however she did not say when they were planning to start.

I got an interview invitation for NECO today though! It's the first school I've heard back from, so I've been extremely anxious, and I'm so happy to hear back from a school! 🙂
 
Yay! I just got an invite to PCO. 3 schools down.
 
I attended the Western Regional Conference at SCCO this past weekend, and I heard that SCCO Interviews were delayed this year because most of the ODs will be attending the AAO Conference in Anaheim during Oct 22-25. So my guess is that interviews won't start until after Oct 25, since they're having trouble getting ODs to interview the applicants. I've been waiting for an invitation, since I finished my online application on Sept 1, and received noticed that everything in my file was complete (LORs, OATs, transcripts).
At least now, I know there's a good reason why there has been a delay in sending out invitations for interviews. Hope this helps...Good luck everyone.🙂

so when did you apply w/ completed application?


....i was actually @ NECO yesterday.. just taking a tour. WOW. great school.
 
I still haven't heard back from ICO and its been over 5 weeks. I called them and they said I should hear back fairly soon. I am starting to get worried because I read that ICO emailed a few people on here saying they need more information and will do a second review in Feb. I might get that...

But, I received an interviews at SCO (and accepted there) and IU. So I don't understand what ICO is looking for??

Thanks! I have a 3.4 science & cumulative GPA from a relatively competitive school, 360TS & 350AA OAT scores, shadowing experience, LORs from 3 professors and 2 optometrists (they wrote me a joint letter) who I have really strong relationships with, independent research on a new therapeutic for a common cause of dry eye, and from what I've been told a unique personal statement.

I applied the first day it was available (so I guess that was September 1st), but I just took my OAT September 20th. I'm not sure if NECO keeps your application on hold until everything is received or will review your file in pieces, but regardless I think they wanted to see my OAT scores first.

I've actually never even been to Boston in general, but I've read great things about the school, so I'm excited to see it for myself.

As I was writing this, I got an email invitation from SCCO. I didn't even think they were inviting people yet! Also, I haven't finished my application for PCO, but they've received everything else (transcripts, LORs, OAT) and sent me a letter urging me to apply based on the rest of my file... did anyone else get this too??

Did you say you've received an email from SCCO today for an invitation for an interview? So, they've already received an official copy of your OAT scores that you took on Sept 20...I thought it took 3-4 weeks for schools to receive the OAT scores. I thought SCCO would mail students a written letter instead of emailing an invitation. But congrats on an invitation for an interview to SCCO. I'm still waiting for mine.

Yeah, I was really surprised to get the invitation via email as well. I wasn't really paying attention the first time I read it, because I just assumed it was an email notifying me that my file was complete. It wasn't until I read the sentence asking me to call and schedule asap that I was like, "what!" and had to read it again.

Generally, they say it takes two weeks for the schools to receive your scores. However, I emailed all the schools I applied to a scanned copy of the score sheet given to me after the exam right after the test to expedite the process. It can't be used to "officially" complete your file (and Dr. Munroe responded to my email and specifically told me that she has to wait until my official scores arrived before moving forward), and not all the schools will take unofficial score reports into consideration, but I don't think it hurts to try.

... would you mind postin your stats.. im interested, cause i finished my application for ICO two weeks ago, and i just finished the SCCO yesterday.

I just checked my mailbox and received an interview invitation from SCCO also! I'm very excited about the interview!!! SCCO mailed it out yesterday according to the letter and postmark...I'm going to call them tomorrow and schedule it for Nov 15 also...hopefully I'll get a chance to meet the both of you. The other date was Dec 13, but I don't want to wait that long, so hopefully Nov 15 is available. I guess we're one of the early birds at SCCO. Talk to you later.🙂

You had the ICO interview on October 2nd, right? Where are you from??
 
I also got an interview at SCCO. I had to take Dec. 13 which seems sooooo far away.
 
Congrats on the SCCO interview invitation...my SCCO interview is scheduled on Nov 15 at noon.

Did you recieve a letter in the mail as well as the email inviting you to SCCO? I have submitted my application on Sept. 1st, but I plan to retake my OATs in Nov., do you think that could be a reason why I haven't heard anything? Thanks!

I GOT an interview....for ICO!!! YAH!!!! I only submited my online application on Sep 15 and the rest was mailed the week after.
 
i interviewed at ICO yesterday. the school is very nice, and the interview is so relaxed, it was just a conversation, i mean i got my interviewer swearing and talking about sports more than optometry, very laid back.

When did ICO say you would find out about your acceptance?
 
anywhere between 1-3 weeks, depending upon when the committee meets to discuss acceptances
 
Yay!! Got an interview with PCO!!
SUNY sent me an e-mail telling me to retake my OATs.. not bad or good news I suppose .. :-\
not looking forward to having to spend another $200
Does anyone know if PCO accepts on the spot of the interview ever?

If you got any score below 300, then yes, they won't extend an interview. They have a strict standard for that.

Also, they JUST started notifying people for interviews... so I wouldn't fret too much. Focus on getting a great score on the OAT for now!

And I haven't checked my mail lately, so I'm not sure if they sent a letter in the mail also.

I got a 290 gen chem and got an interview from SCCO

I got 320s on both my AA and TS scores...they told me to aim at getting a 340..

Congrats on your interview, you might have just squeaked by! "[T]he absolute MINIMUM OAT scores you will need to be considered a competitive applicant would be OAT section scores at or above 300 in "Total Science", "Academic Average" and "Reading Comprehension"" (direct quote from Dr. Munroe)
 
The above post is exactly what Dr. Munroe told me as well. As long as your AA, TS, and RC were all above 300 an applicant could be considered at SCCO. I personally phoned and asked because when I was taking practice exams I was scoring below 300 on the physics section and I panicked so I phone all of the schools I was planning on applying to.

After reading Dr. Munroe's Academic Qualification for an Interview Handout, I've learned that it is possible to be invited for an interview to SCCO if you received a section score below 300 on the science section (it could be biology, g-chem, o-chem, or physics) as long as your TS is at least 300. For instance, if your OAT score on physics was 280, but all the other science scores plus the physics score gave you a 300 on the TS, then you would be academically qualified for an interview if you also achieved OAT scores of at least a 300 on the RC and AA.

I sent in my applications (both online app and letters of recommendation and transcripts through mail) between Sept 10-12.

I have a cumulative gpa of 3.622 and my OAT scores are:
TS: 380
AA: 350

I currently work at an Optometry office at Costco, and have been doing so for almost a year.

I was invited for interviews for SUNY and NECO about 2 weeks later.

SUNY: Oct 21
NECO: Nov 14

I was invited for an interview at ICO on Oct 1st and I have it scheduled for:

ICO: Nov 21

I'm still waiting to hear from SCCO in Fullerton, CA.

And of course, I'm waiting on UC Berkeley which I don't expect to hear from until next year.

I'm very excited that I get to take off work to travel to these places!!!
If anyone has questions let me know!!
 
Got an interview from SCO today; will be interviewing on the October 24th!
