Is it beneficial to set up an interview later or earlier to the program that you really want to go to?

I heard it was better later, since they remember you more than people they interviewed months ago.

I think it makes sense to do it somewhere in the middle. Too early and you won't be sharp yet. Too late and you might be worn out (if you are interviewing at a lot of places).

I don't buy into the idea that interviewing late is better because they'll remember you either. The later in the season it gets, the more people the program knows it wants to rank high and you'll have more people you are being compared against to make their list, if that makes sense.
