I was wonderin the same thing? Can anyone speak from experience. I know I read somewhere that Desi got one, but I want to know how common it is, for example, if one has a good GPA, and looks good on paper overall, will they possibly be granted an interview without DAT scores. Or will the app be held off until DAT scores are released?

Caveat: I was never in this exact situation, so I can't report from direct experience.

Having said that, DAT scores are such a vitally important portion of the application packet (half of the pre-interview admission criteria) that I can't imagine interviews generally being granted without them. Sure, they'll accept your application and start a file for you, but they'll probably hold off on the interview decision. That's no reason not to get an early start if you want, though. Good luck getting in!

Based on what i have read on here for 2003 cycle, i remember some people getting interviewed w/o having taken their DAT's. and those people where the ones with high GPA's, very strong LOR's and/or some connection to the school.

good luck to all

UF granted me an interview with no DAT score. Heard of a few others say the same.

Well to beat a dead horse..........

At every school i interviewed at there was someone who was intervieiwng without having taken the DATs. I was talking to a friend of mine who interviewed late into the cycle (may) and found that one of the other kids interviewing with him hadn't taken the DAT. Both were granted admission, and the one without the DAT was told "make sure you get 18/18". So you will be interviewed and may even accepted without DATs (granted that your GPA is relatively good and the rest of your app is pretty solid). But just remember if you don't score well on the DAT afterwards, that acceptance may vanish.......

So safe bet, take the DAT then go for the interview, that way no hurdles to worry about later on.........

It varies from school to school, so before relying on this method, contact the schools/use their websites to see how they handle admissions.

I know that at several schools your appication will NOT be reviewed for an interview until your file is complete, and your file is not considered complete until the official DAT scores have been received.

This is how it is at Arizona, as well as some other schools. The only way to make heads or tails of each schools' process is to do the research for yourself and then compile everything into an organized document/spreadsheet.

Also remember that some schools are bound to update their admissions procedures from one year to the next. So good luck, and don't forget to contact the schools!
