Anyone know of a good beginners guide to understanding/demystifying dental procedures? I want to brush up on dental terminology/procedures so that if they come up at some point during the application progress, I know what's going on. Pictures/Basic explanations would be a good start.

Thanks

ummm, why are you at a dental interview if you're a pre-medical student? I have nothing against pre-meds going into dentistry, i'm just wondering though. Try and show commitment to one and stick to it. Good luck.

the truth of the matter is, an episode of "scrubs" rubbed me the wrong way and now i want dentistry. why do you want to go into dentistry? it looks like you have a promising future as a guidance counselor!

thanks for your suggestions to those who answered my questions though!

hmm well I don't know if you should base your career choice on 'Scrubs' although i love that show I don't think it would accurately depict the medical doctor occupation.

An amazing book that I have found really helpful during shadowing and assisting at an office was Delmar's "Dental Assisting". It's only like $20 on half.com for a used copy- or you could check Amazon. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about dentistry before dental school!

I honestly don't know if you're kidding or not but I do not recommend a book. Nothing is better than shadowing. If you were that influenced by something you saw on Scrubs, than shadowing will be the only way to fully see everything you will do as a dentist...and who knows, there might be something that will rub you the wrong way in dentistry too.

If predents didn't have such a limited sense of humour, I could really go to town on this one.
