Can someone tell me, Is anesthesia invasive or Non-invasive med field ?

Although, I think they are physicians, labelling themselves as M.D. but I just want to know do you guys call anesthesia invasive or non-invasive field ?

Um, Also I've seen most of the anesthesiologist work as a freelancer, is it true ? Can anesthesiologist work for one hospital only like Surgeons,Physicians do bound to hospital contract ?

I'm just a curious med student, Just random question popped up in my mind.

The field of anesthesiology is a medical specialty one pursues after the completion of medical school.

Anesthesiology is a very invasive field. You intubate patients, prod the with intravenous lines, PICC lines, etc. Not as invasive as a surgical specialty, but much more so than a primary care specialty.

Thanks mate, Thanks a lot

I need you peoples help.I'm in dilemma right now. Soon I'll be graduating from med school and most probably I'll go for residency. I'm thinking or you can say I'm mostly interested in Anesthesia but then again it makes me nervous because of Surgeries/ highly invasive and all that stuff. I do not mind dealing with the surgeons. I can handle any kind of torture from them. LOL,ya I have heard , in fact I've seen surgeons yelling at anesthesiologist most of the times. Anyways, I like what anesthesiologist do and its kind of a you can say suits my personality. I do not want to deal with the lots of invasive stuff like surgeons do besides I've medical condition known as "Hyperhydrosis" Most of the time my hands sweat on and off that's the reason I'm not so very interested seeing myself as a "Surgeon" in the future Also, I don't like freelancing stuff cause honestly I like to stay at one place and deal with the one hospital at one time.I want to have at least decent lifestyle. I do not want to regret latter on my decision and end up being jobless myself! Thanks

What do you guys think are my chances ? Will I be able to pull it off ?

Also, I'm an Asian guy. I want to work abroad like: gulf countries, Singapore, HK etc

How are the salaries for Anet guy in those countries ? I do know salaries offered by HK government for specialist. I just do not know working conditions in Arab countries.

You're a medical student? I'm guessing not in the U.S.?

Weird indeed. Clearly not in the US of A.

My only question is this- what would you do as an alternative to residency?

BTW, I would consider anesthesia invasive.

@ PlanktonMD

Thanks I was considering the same. I asked some suggestions from my real life med friends and they told me the same field you suggested to me.Besides I'm not the fast acting guy who can deal with emergencies.I definitely do not want screw up someones life in OR room end up myself behind the bars!

Yes guys I'm not a native American like I mention myself the other day I'm an asian Chinese guy living in Beijing.

@ Scundrunner

I myself know now that the anesthesiologist do deal with invasive stuff therefore I think anesthesia is invasive field
