It seems like the vast majority of posters on this forum struggle with verbal as their weakest subject and really excel in both science sections. I've struggled to get my BS and PS scores up to a 9 (often am only 1 point off a 10), but can regularly get an 11 or 12 on verbal.

I did my prerequisites as a post bac student and did my undergraduate degree in English Lit, which I'm guessing helped out in the verbal department--also explains my lower science scores to a degree, since I haven't taken any "extras" like genetics, microbiology, etc.

Has anyone with a similar score breakdown applied to schools? I'm curious as to how this apparently abnormal score profile will be viewed.

what practice material are you basing that 11-12 verbal average off of? Verbal scores are not equal across the board of available practice materials.

My scores are consistently 11/12 over all the AAMC + Kaplan FL 1-8.

I have also taken a bunch of the Kaplan section tests in verbal and tend to get between 77 and 85%.

I took 2 or 3 of the Examkrackers101 verbal exams (timed) and also received 11/12.

I have not touched Princeton Review, Berkeley Review, etc.

Wow I could have written this myself! My discrepancy was actually even more exaggerated. I have an undergrad lit degree and and a MA in art history. Did post bacc science. I ultimately got 8's in both sciences and a 14 in verbal but decided hey I'll just apply anyway and see how it goes. I've been accepted to a number of DO and less competitive MD schools. If you want to go to Harvard you've got to get the sciences up. If you want to get in somewhere the unbalanced score might not be a deal breaker.

Wow, given the general lack of response, I'd say we must be in a pretty considerable minority!

Def. in the minority. i was a foreign languages major, and scored 13 on verbal. people were like how did you do that? meanwhile, I am impressed with anything over a 9 in the physical science portion since no matter what, that is as high as I got.

I have the same problem! It's a little less exaggerated but verbal is consistently my best score on practice exams and I'm wondering what that's going to mean for the real test (which I take this Saturday) along with getting into schools
