Has anyone had their gpa's calculated by Iowa yet? Mine still says they haven't been calculated and just wondering if this was the case for everyone else? I had my app sent in by the end of August. Thanks everyone! Such a stressful waiting period!😳

Same with me. My GRE scores have been entered, but my GPA calculations are still pending...

Same here. I submitted mine early September and it's still not calculated.

I remember it taking a really long time last year to have gpas calculated so I wouldn't fret!

I just saw mine today, and it was close to what I calculated myself using very rudimentary calculations. Maybe call the admissions office and ask?

My GPA was also just calculated today, and they were both around what I figured they would be. Did anyone else get passed on from academic review to committee review today as well? I was pleasantly surprised it was updated at the same as grades were calculated, I didn't expect it to be that quick. (Though I'm not complaining! 🙂 )

Mine still says "In Academic Review" even though my GPAs are already calculated

I just looked at mine now, and GPAs are calculated and says Committee Review as well 😀

I'm sure it must take a while to calculate all of the GPAs! Also, does everyone get moved to Committee Review?

I submitted my supplemental in early to mid sept and my vmcas went through in late sept... Maybe they are doing it alphabetically

http://vetmed.iastate.edu/academics/prospective-students/admissions/academic-requirements tells you exactly which courses they use to calculate your GPA. It could be because they only take 1 semester of physics whereas most other schools require both. No micro, nutrition, etc.

Also, I am not sure how any of the schools calculate GPAs when it comes to differing credit values for a course. For example, my biochem course is 4 credits, but Iowa's is only 3. Any input on this??

Just contact the admissions office and tell them that you feel there was an error. They made an error in calculating my cumulative GPA last year, it isn't a big deal. They will tell you exactly how they calculated it and review the calculation if you feel that something is off. 🙂

They should use the number of credit hours that corresponds with the course that you took. Basically, what your transcript says is what should be used. They wouldn't change the credit hours you took of a course just because a course they offer that you did not take has lower credit hours. Just would not make sense.

While it looks pretty sad 😳 (I'm giving that credit to the damaging effects of Ochem) I am still hopeful and pleased to find out about this update. Now to refresh until it hits "committee review" or "VMCAS received"!!

I calculated mine too....hopefully it won't be drastically lower otherwise I can count this school out haha. This is the only school I've applied to that will give me immediate feedback as to where I am in the process besides Ohio. I got the e-mail that my application is complete the other day, but still cannot see what step of the process I'm in until they e-mail me.

Also, does everyone know that our supplemental fee is good for two consecutive years? Hopefully none of us will have to reapply though!

I'm STILL in academic review and my GPAs have been calculated for a while now...the wait is agonizing...I know I shouldn't check so frequently, but...

I'm definitely stoked for November - December. Offers should come in more frequently around that time

I had my VMCAS in by Sept 1st, but I didn't submit the supplemental until Oct. 1. My grades are already calculated and I am now in committee review. Honestly, it seems like they really don't have a specific order that they are going in (unless I'm missing something obvious).

I know it can be hard Iso, but try not to worry too much yet. It sounds like they are still in the middle of calculating things. Here's hoping you (and everyone else waiting) will be in committee review soon

It seems to be that everyone who applied after me is being reviewed before me so I'm not so sure that there is any "first come, first serve" as suggested in the priority deadline dates that I adhered to. If there are no updates by Friday I will most likely send a message via the portal, even though I hate to be a bother when I know they are swamped.
