Hi all,

I'll be a MS1 in a few weeks and am wondering what everyone's opinions are on purchasing an iPad?
From previous experience, I definitely prefer to read and study off of hard copy books. However, I've realized that students share and the school provides a lot of pdfs/eBooks/study materials online.

Given that it would be extremely expensive and costly to purchase all of these books and First Aid/Step 1 materials, do you guys recommend purchasing an iPad or some kind of eReader? Or should I stick to what is more comfortable for me in terms of studying?

Thanks for the input!

i use my surface pro for textbooks i didn't find myself spending too much time on. Like for a portion of MS1, i bought clinical moores, BRS anatomy and netter's atlas hardcopy and all other classes i used pdf versions

I liked physical books and wasn't inconvenienced by them. That being said, be very careful in buying books. Many are not needed.

I love physical books, but you can't beat that $0.00 PDF price. I forced myself to use PDFs of textbooks in notability and after 3 weeks I learned PDFs >>> physical books.

I honestly don't think you need that many books for preclinical. Maybe FA, Pathoma, Netter's, and BRS physo? There are other path texts which are like 800 pages but only a few people seem to use. FA is nice to have on paper for annotating, but everything else is more convenient as a PDF IMO, way nicer to lug around that way. Also, an iPad mini or other 7" tablet is the perfect size to drop into a whitecoat for clinical years
