It's coming out this week. Any thoughts on whether it will be worth it?

I think it's too big for a device that's tethered to a computer.

People had similar criticisms about the original iPad saying it was just an oversized ipod touch...

I personally think the iPad pro will catch on in time.

If you are looking into an Ipad Pro, look into the Surface Pro 4, its a much better machine with better functionality, better system (full windows 10 vs apple IOS), more power, and slightly cheaper depending on which model you go for (and with the Ipad you have to buy the pen separately).

The thing I find perplexing about the ever-larger tablets with detachable keyboards, wireless mice, etc, is that they end up being a bulkier, clunkier laptop with a touchscreen. Why not just buy a small laptop in the first place? And before someone mentions Microsoft's Surface again...the Surface is not a tablet, it's a computer.

If the new Macbook had a touchscreen I'd buy one instantly.

If the new MacBook had a touchscreen? Just buy the surface since IT IS a computer with a touchscreen which is what you're describing... Unless you're an appletard which I suspect you are (nothing wrong with that).

The surface doesn't have an attached keyboard, is much larger, different operating system, etc. and is simply my personal preference...that's it. I don't see how that makes me an "appletard."

Much larger? Aren't MacBooks pretty large anyway and that's what you want right? Besides there are laptops out there with an attached keyboard and a touchscreen that has been out for quite some time now.

Honestly, it all depends on how you use it. I have the regular sized iPad with a keyboard case and it's been great. BUT, it's a little unwieldy when I start to type while holding it, or trying to hold it with one hand. I imagine this would be worse with an iPad Pro, but it would also be better for textbooks and general reading, given its size. For purely clinical use and stashing in a white coat, I'd go iPad Mini all the way.
