I have another technology question that doesn't really need its own thread. My 4-year-old macbook pro is on a slow decline, and I'm going to get a new computer when I get my med school financial aid. I am thinking of getting a "low" end iMac & an iPad, and I am trying to decide whether there are any circumstances in which I would regret not owning a laptop. I really only need a "real" computer if I am doing a lot of writing or something in a spreadsheet, and the larger screen could be nice for those things. But then I have to always sit down and do work in one spot, which is the only real negative I can think of.
I guess during third & fourth year, especially when doing away rotations (I am probably going to a school with a good amount of time away from the main campus during clinicals) I might end up hurting for a computer. That's probably something to consider.
