I want to get away from scribbling stuff on paper, and making checkboxes - only to miss stuff & not be able to read my own handwriting.

Does anyone have iPhone app for tracking patients/tasks that they recommend?
Assuming it's secure/encrypted and HIPAA compliant.

I can only find these on the app store but none have any good reviews:

Doctor buddy https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/doctor-buddy-patients-manager/id464575336?mt=8
Iscut https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/iscut-medical-to-do-lists/id440914284?mt=8
Patient List https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/patientlist/id427718634?mt=8

They all seem like they're from 1999.

Classmate just told me about this one- but I can't download it yet, so have no idea how it is
http://planshiftapp.com/ Design looks good though.

Other suggestions?

Honestly,
Pen and paper has been the best. I used to use a tablet with pen, but it was way quicker having the paper on hand.
Honestly only need a patient list. Fold paper vertically and write on backside as you round. You know, what every resident does?

What Kaustikos said. I think it's a cool concept, but I can't help but feeling like I would be spending/wasting too much time entering all that data into my phone when I can just write it down on my patient lists, which is working just fine for me.

Slow down a bit if you can't read your own handwriting, and don't scribble. Problem solved.

Not to mention that the EMR nowadays can print you a patient list with a whole slew of information and some can do almost all the functions these additional programs can without the added hassle.

Agree with this. The only thing I'd add is for when you're carrying a bunch of patients (night float, weekend float): make a master to-do list in one consistent place (i.e. the back of your last sign-out sheet, or one index card). I found it entirely too easy to forget a follow-up or task checkbox when it's only listed under a specific patient. Plus, when a nurse calls, you can just write down the pt name and what you need to do in that one spot, rather than leafing through 8 pages to find their entry, and you can tell immediately whether you are caught up with everything.

Does anyone hv idea of any app for psychiatrics (scales mainly)???
