iPod Touch Lexi-Comp

I don't know the answer to your question mainly because I don't know what "jailbreaking your Ipod Touch" means, but I'm curious about how well you pick up the wifi signal throughout the hospital? Is the pharmacy in the basement? Does it work there?

I don't work in a hospital yet. However, Lexi-Comp should be able to operate without WIFI signal.

Basically, jail-breaking it means that you unlock the iPod Touch and can download apps for free. The one thing I see about this being a problem is if Lexi-Comp requires a subscription sort of thing before you can activate the app. I'm thinking that the jail break will allow me to download the App but I won't be able to use the App until there is an authorized ID# or something that is sent to the app from Lexi Comp.

Lexi-comp isn't an app per se. Its a subscription service

Has anyone actually tried the iPhone version yet? I've been using the palm version for years. I like the information, but I'm annoyed that palm doesn't support tables. Does the iPhone support tables? I don't have an iPhone, so pardon me if these are silly questions.

I am not supporting the hacking of LexiComp - but yes, it has been done.

I currently use Lexi - it is a Freakin OUTSTANDING pharma-compendia... Lexi-Drugs for complete info - AHFS for clinical pearls - Harrison's Practice for clinical reference (guidelines like JNC already built in).

It does NOT get better than Lexi on the iPhone. If you couple Lexi w/ Backgrounder - you have a drug database that is simply "on" - as soon as you click it - it is opened instantly (the typical 6-7 second load time is very annoying)

I also have lexi on my touch and I love it.
If it was jail broken, would you still be able to get updates? Lexi Drugs updates every 2 days.

I bought Lexi-Comp Select and then found out it was only good for one year. So I did the jailbreak thing on my iPhone 3G, deleted the paid version I had installed and then installed the hacked/free one I got online. It works the same, with no issues. A friend of mine did it without even paying for it, so it works for free in the iPhone. However, this is considered piracy and I don't like the idea of it, but the price is too high even with the student discount for only one year. I can see they charge me an update fee every once in a while so that I can update the content, but there's no way I'm paying all that money just to keep the same information.

The big updates kill me - I am downloading the 45.7 mb lexidrugs update 🙁

For real though - for those that have jailbroken devices - check out backgrounder - it will change your life.

A friend bought Lexi-Comp for his iphone... uploaded it to my phone too and so I've got a free version. 🙂 I just can't update my applications from my computer or update Lexi. Instead, I have to download all new apps from the app store on my phone.

Careful with what you talk about here, people.

This is a sure fire way to get this board roasted.

Ehh it's just software piracy. Please tell me that you guys don't pay for music.

I do. I want to support the bands I like.

If anything, napster etc caused me to buy more cds than I would've otherwise.
