IQ tests for the very young.

I was wondering whether one can test the IQ on a child under 4. I believe the WPPSI is only recommended from 4 years.

I know that the level of mental ******ation is an important diagnostic tool for differentiating between, for instance, infantile autism and Asperger's. How do they test IQ, then, since the pervasive developmental disorders are often diagnosed before age 4.
