Anyone know how much the local pay rates are per year (in Euro) for interns, RMO/HMO and SHMO/Fellows?

Thanks

This year, base pay for interns is 33500. Not sure how much it is for SHOs, but they would receive slightly higher than interns (tho not much). At the moment, where NCHDs (non-consultant hospital doctors) earn money is through overtime.

An intern makes €33,822 basic, the SHO makes from €39,193 - 51,273 basic, the Registrar from €51,273 - €61,282 and the Senior Registrar from €66,470 - €81,399.

All of these salaries exclude overtime (expect 30-50% of your basic), holiday pay and a higher degree allowance if you have a Masters.

These figures are correct as of the last pay-review (June 2007; http://www.dohc.ie/publications/pdf/salary_scales_june07.pdf )

Actually an intern can range from 50-100% of your salary depending on where you do it - ie. country vs city.

I worked in a country hospital as an intern in 2003-4 and over that year, I grossed EUR70,000 (lower basic - I think EUR28,000?).

Thanks patty - I was going for a "conservative estimate", but it is great to hear a true figure!

Hey dchaos, I was trying to access the imo.ie website for the actual salary figures as well, but obviously no longer have access to it 🙁 Nice find!

I am sure now in 2008 and at those hospitals that are truly neglecting the EWTD, interns should be making more.

When exactly are you considered an intern at these Irish schools?
