Does anyone know anything about Campuswide Honors Program at UC Irvine? About 160 undergrads participate each year. Any chance to be considered for regents scholarship?

The University claims that 90% of these students continue their eduction at the most prestigious graduate or professional schools in this world. Is that comparable to other institutes?

Our family concensus is that US Davis is the best bet for a pre med quest. Is Irvine similar to Davis in anyway? We want to avoid all those "rush hours" at Westwood and Berkeley. Any opinion, please?

Pick any of the above questions you'd like. Thanks

i do know for a fact that the campus wide honors program at uci is looked at very highly. i have many friends that were a part of the program that are continuing their education, in both medical and graduate schools, at many prestigious universities. to have this program on your medical school application indeed does help many premeds. i know of a couple individuals that didn't score that well on the mcat, but due to their involvement with the program, were able to be accepted to great medical schools.

the premed department at uci, which is commonly referred to as the bio department, is an excellent program. i honestly do not know if it is better or worse than davis's, but i do know that it is looked at highly, since irvine has one of the most rigorous bio departments compared to many of the uc's. all in all though, i feel that all the uc's do a superb job in training premeds. hope i've helped a little. feel free to ask me any more questions, as i do have a lot of insight into the premed program specifically at uci, i graduated from there in 02, hence the screen name, hehe. take care.

Why bother? Honors isnt so important in college
