I've ranked 10 places so far on the nrmp.org website.
Because of places like RIC taking up 2 ranks (one for the categorical and one for the advanced) and Baylor/UofT taking up 2 ranks I've used up my 15 freebie ranks.

I interviewed at more than 10 places and found many of the remainder to be acceptable programs. But I haven't piled the dough on yet and was thinking of doin' so a little closer to the deadline.

Obviously it sucks it's 30 bones a rank, though small price to pay since an interview costs many more bones.

But if I found all the places I interviewed to be acceptable do I really rank them all and pay all the extra bones?!

you should only rank programs you want to go to. you don't want to look back and feel that you have matched at a place that you kinda liked or didn't match at all. I didn't want to take any chances so i had 13 on my list. Now, if i got in the lower part of my list i would have been extremely upset, but I would have been more upset if i didn't match

I only ranked 6, but I knew what geographic location I was going to be in.

I think 10 will be fine, but if you applied at all the top places and want a little more piece of mind, it's pretty cheap at 30 bucks a pop.

only rank programs you want to go to
do not rank programs that you deem "acceptable" just to match IF you think you would not be happy there.
Personally I'd rather not have matched than end up at such a program.
Majority of US grads dont go past 5 on their rank list.
