Is 33 too old to get a Bachelor's or Masters Degree in Psychology?

I know it is only supposed to take 4 to 6 years. But honestly for some it does take longer. Some people work while going to school. Therefore they can't study full time. And what about the cost for school? Does working while in school actually help with the cost of tuition?

You'll live those years anyways so if it is something that works towards your goals then I'd say go for it.

Yes I know that's true I'm just worried that I've waited too late. I really don't want to be in school for 10 years.

Yeah I understand what you're saying, I guess it would come down to how many credit hours you would be able to put in each semester. You could always sit down with an adviser at the university and figure out an ideal plan.

10 years? See that's what I mean did you work while you were in school? My parents are in their 60's and It worries me like will I finish before they die. I don't know maybe I should just reconsider I wish I wouldn't have waited so late.

Yes. I worked as an OR tech for the first 5 years, then I took a couple years off from school to play music professionally, then I joined the military and finished my degree while active duty. Life happens, as cliche as it sounds, and it just takes some people longer. Do not be discouraged because your path looks different. It makes you unique and who you are.

I started at 18, quit at 19, came back at 33 and finished my bachelors in Biology at 37. Will have my masters at 39, hopefully my MD or DO at 43. If that’s what you want, go get it!

OP, there are fully accredited online Psychology degree programs all the way up to the PhD level too, so you can have a more flexible schedule if you need to work and go to school.

It really is never too late. Inquire at the schools about scholarships for being an older applicant too. You bring a wealth of wisdom and experience that institutions would love to have.

This is your life and your time table. If you want to do it , do it. If you dont want to do it dont do it. It is never to late to learn more, to achieve more, to do more.
