is a business card an invite to contact

i posted this in the official update letter thread but didnt get any response. anyway, i was wondering if an interviewer gives you a business card with contact info, is that an invitation to contact them? sorry if these seems obvious, i just feel like its pushy. i already sent an update letter to the committee before i was placed on hold, so i was just going to email my interviewer and say "thanks, still interested, what can i do to improve over the next few months?" or something along those lines...

To be honest, chances are that person will not remember who you are or what your weaknesses were. If you had specific questions regarding the school or program, that person might be good to contact.
