Hi all,

I took a course as credit /no credit recently ( received a credit grade). I was told by my advisor that my credit grade will be viewed as a C on amcas.

However, my school does not have the pass fail option. Is the credit grade still calculated as a C or will it not be factored into my amcas gpa?

Your clarification would be appreciated!

hmm..... it sounds like this is really school specific for you undergrad. it's odd you have "credit/nocredit" but not a P/F option.

something tells me that the "credit will be viewed as a C" thing is wrong, but idk

My gut reaction is to agree with this, and that it won't be included in your AMCAS GPAs. Aren't there any students at your school currently applying to med school that you can ask, OP?

Thank you for your responses!

My school's handbook states "ALERT/NOTE: OTHER COLLEGES, GRADUATE SCHOOLS, PROFESSIONAL SCHOOLS, SERVICES AND EMPLOYERS MAY LOOK WITH DISFAVOR UPON THE USE OF THE CREDIT/NO CREDIT GRADING OPTION AND MAY EVEN CONVERT CREDIT TO C AND NO CREDIT TO F FOR THEIR PURPOSES."

However, in the amcas handbook, it states that credit/no credit will be converted to p/f.

From this, is it safe to say that amcas would convert my credit grade to a p which won't be factored into my GPA? I unfortunately do not know others who know of this policy at my school which is why I'm concerned. Would it be better to take the withdrawal?

As AMCAS P/F grades have no effect on their GPA calculations, logically, credit/no credit converted to pass/fail won't either.
