Has anyone ever heard of someone applying in December or late November and getting in? I'm currently thinking about doing it. But I want to know if it would be a waste of time and money.
More importantly, if I don't end up getting in this cycle, would I be looked down upon as a reapplicant next year?
And finally, in addition to applying extremely late, I will also be applying without a B.S. degree (I'm a third year). Should I even give it a shot?

I think you should apply next year. There has been some cases of really late applicants getting in, but it is a very small percentage. If you don't get in this year, schools will expect you to improve your application for next year unless you have a 22DAT and a 3.9GPA with a bunch of E.C.(In that case you would get accepted this year). In the end, save your money and apply next year IMO!

No you should not!! (is what i want to say because of your stats and the level of competition you will bring to the table even as a late applicant) 😀

But seriously,

If you want a choice of any school that you would like(which you have that option with your stats) wait till next year, because it will be like a buffet of dental schools for you(keeping in mind you have some EC's and can speak to people) BUT if you do not care where you go for d school and jus wanna start already, Yea. Some schools will not let you matriculate w/o a bachelors, some dont care(90unit requirement though), and some have guidelines such as 3.5 and above gpa and 20+ DAT(or sumthin like that)

If i were you, i would wait till next year and go to your DREAM SCHOOL where ever that might be!

Goodluck👍

If your predents profile is correct then your stats are insane. If you have a decent amount of ECs I would go ahead and apply. You might not get your first choice but you'll interviews.

lol - does anyone remember his posts from a few months back? "a little here and there" is um... a BIT of an understatement. wait til next year and go to UCLA or Harvard. i think you'll have your pick.

since you have a 4.0 30TS and 27AA i think it would be a waste not to apply. it may be late, but adcoms will definitely notice your exceptional stats. if you're cool missing out on your senior year, go for it.

your stats are money

however you can't be picky - your dream school could potentially have filled all of its spots.

GL let us know with your insane stats

I guess I'll put my EC's back on the predents profile just to clarify this thread..

Actually, I would probably only apply to one school, UCLA. So it wouldn't even seem like i missed out on my last year.. (cuz i'd still be on the same campus)

Well I know a friend that has a friend (I met him once) who got into UCLA when he applied in Dec. But his stats were incredible. High 20's and 3.9 something.

a little here a little there is definitely an understatement. i would just go ahead and apply since its only one school and your stats and ECs are crazy. good luck!

is this some kind of joke?
one needs to have two lifetimes to accomplish all those EC
and how much out of your time and money are you going to be if you apply to one school only?
and if you already there on UCLA premises why don't you walk into admissions office and check with them?

That is definitely something to take into consideration since as a reapplicant you are expected to show improvement. It would be a challenge to improve your current application.

I would consider just waiting. You should really focus on bringing up your AA and PAT as they could stand to be improved a little.

I agree with the above poster...why are you asking us?? Why don't you just go into the office and ask since you are on campus? They more than likely will bow down once they see your stats. On paper you look like a dental schools wet dream.

This is one of my main worries. I don't know how much I can improve in a few months (which is basically how long it will take for the next cycle to start if i don't get in). If i reapply, it would basically be the same application (just with a few more months added to each one of my commitments). It's definitely a tricky spot to be in.

(BTW, since TedyBearSuicide so diligently rewrote my entire predents on this post, i took my EC's off of the profile already.)

I'm asking SDN because there are a lot of knowledgeable people on this site. Unfortunately, my school doesn't have a particularly useful predent advisor.
And it isn't exactly that easy to just "walk into the admissions office" and start asking questions. But i will try to shoot the admissions director an email. I doubt i'll get a reply during this hectic time.

Your stats, assuming that there is not a typo error, is the sort of numbers adcoms/deans dream about. In a previous post, it has been suggested that in such a situation you could easily wait until after X-mas and adcoms might still be willing to hand deliver you an acceptance. It is not exactly clear why you would need or want to wait until December unless you are wishing to check the school's resolve when it comes devil-may-care attitude, in which case you may be pushing the envelope since arrogance is probably on the list of traits that adcoms are simply not too thrilled to see.

If I thought it would be that easy to get in during this cycle, then I wouldn't be hesitating right now. Do you not agree that it is a significant concern that I will not have a bachelor's degree before matriculation? My situation isn't as black and white as you imply it to be. Additionally, the reason for my projected December submission is that I do not want to rush my LOR writers. I'm assuming it will take at least a couple of months after the time I ask to get all of the letters. I also have not started writing my personal statement, so I'm giving myself time to do that as well. Unfortunately, I'm predicting that late November or early December will be the earliest I can submit.

bull... crap.

Thanks for your constructive input.

good luck

Now there's a twist on the lors. With procrastination/indecision/ambivalence maybe it would not be a bad idea to wait for 2011.
