I know some programs require a laptop, like Shenandoah, but do you think a laptop would be beneficial in a pharmacy program that doesn't require it? My laptop is like 10 pounds and I would rather not bring it to class.

I go to MCP-Worcester, which doesn't require laptops and no one in our class of ~150 brings one. A couple people did the first few weeks of the first year, but not since. I do, however, usually bring mine with me and leave it in my trunk so I can go to Starbucks or the library (or anywhere besides my apartment) to study after class! Maybe you should get a lighter laptop. 🙂

If school says you do not need one then you do not. I have a light little laptop but I am still old school when it comes to taking notes and such. I like to hand write my notes. Most of the people I see with laptops use them to surf the web but a couple people do take notes.

I still bring my laptop to school with me, mainly to use at the library and at coffee shops as posted above. Many libraries have plenty of computers available so owning a new, fancy, light laptop is at your discretion. They are fun though!

Thanks for the replies! I might try to budget in a cool, thin laptop just because it would be fun to have one! 👍
