Hi,

I am going to apply to dental school this cycle but I have a problem. My original plan was to send the AADSAS application in June, retake my DAT in mid-july and then update my scores after the retake.

But I just found out that some dental schools don't wait for your second DAT scores and start the review process as soon as they get my AADSAS and my first DAT scores. And there's a possibility of rejection based on my first DAT scores (I confirmed this with dental schoos.)

So then I've been thinking what if I apply early (in june) to those dental schools that said they will wait for my second DAT scores and ADD other schools that aren't going to wait for my second DAT AFTER I retake my DAT--that is, mid-july.

I think this is the best decision I can make in this situation but I need your opinions on this. Can this hurt me somehow? Would you say just apply to all schools in mid-july after my second DAT?
Also, can adding more schools later hurt me or does adding more schools only increase my chance of getting into dental school? Do dental schools know when I add other schools?

I would greatly appreciate your input. Please help me!!

I like your plan. I don't see how it would hurt you...unless you do worse on your DAT? but study hard and it'll be fine🙂 Mid-july isn't too late anyway according to posts here...
I think dental schools can see how many schools you applied to...the only thing with this is that if you apply to too few like say one or two with average stats then you just may look arrogant. I don't think you'll have that problem though...
Your plan is good. See if you can find other schools that you would like to go to that will wait for your score and add them to your early list maybe? But just a side suggestion.

So you think adding schools later won't affect my chance of getting into the schools I apply early?
I think I'm going to apply to 8 schools initially and then add 4 or 5 later. I hope this plan maximizes my chance.

As far as I know, midwestern, temple, usc and nova won't wait for my second scores. But I still have a few more schools to call and find out.
